Anyone got some? I knew stock cams were garbage but I didn't expect to make peak HP at 5300

Stock cams. HX35. Dashed line is pump gas, solid is E67ish.

DSMopar,

I hope you know that the cam profile are a tiny piece of what determines the powerband on a turbo car. The turbo is probably the #1 effect on it.

Are you sure you have the cams installed correctly? Sure the tune is right? Sure everything else is right?

Everythings good, every DSM i've driven dies at 5K+ on stock cams, this one is no difference. Cams are the primary effect on where peak HP is unless your turbo is choked either hot or cold side... Besides that go look at what other 68HTA guys are making peak HP at with cams... not a turbo thing

I'm not trying to make any crazy power like most of you guys but my mechanic did recomend upgraded cames, so the powerband doesn't fall of at higher rpms

Yeah stock cams are known to drop off after about 5600rpm even with a large turbo. I made my own intake manifold and it pulled up to 7000rpm without dropping on stock cams with a larger turbo with adjustable cam gears. So it all depends on the setup. Some nice power on stock cams though. Good job on that.

I don't think you understand. Put the biggest cams in the world on a 14b setup, and it's still going to fall on its face at 6000 or so. Put the smallest cams on a 42R, and it's still not going to do anything till 6000+, and will be making power at 8-10k still.

Yeah obviously, you can move the power with the cams some, you can also move the power around by changing the cam timing, but the turbo by far effects where it makes power at.

Lastly, there is a guy on here with a HX35 that made power way up to 8000+ with stock cams.

Bastarddsm is correct. We played with the 14b last year on our mirage with a set of GSC S3 cams. I was shifting the car at 6400 in first, 6100-6200 in second and 5800-6000 in third. And that was purely from the butt dyno. I bet if we put it on the rollers it would be pretty bad as far as the torque curve was concerned.

The t25 is gona lose steam regardless up top. I have adjustable cam gears and brian crower stage 2 cams now.
Yeah that is partly true. I was using a T70 and power would still fall on its face by 6000rpm. Until I made my own short runner intake manifold and then it shifted power from 6000rpm to 7200 just by running a short runner intake manifold. If you manipulate the airflow after the turbo it will also change the powerband.

Yes. My setup wasnt ideal. Shouldve mentioned my exhaust was the hks 2.25" and stock exhaust manifold
