hello I have a 1995 Eagle Talon ESI non turbo, FWD, manual trans.

I have been researching various types of tuning for the 420a and came to the conclusion megasquirt will be the best option for what my plans are... my next question is where do I find a megasquirt unit for the 420a???? and how much am I looking on a standalone unit to ditch my old ecu.. Also which version would be best and easiest to tune

MS3X, unless you really want ms3pro. Bout 1k gets you essentially everything you need to convert, minus some misc. Sensors and stuff, but that'll allow you to log and tune and account for any future upgrades, inc.: motor swaps, boost, nitrous, etc..

Diyautotune.com

They sell everything you need. You will not find a megasquirt for the 420a. Megasquirt is built to handle all different types of engines and can be configured to run on just about anything. I would go with the ms3x. You can buy the kit or get one that is pre assembled. You may have to make a few modifications to make it work with the 420a. DIY can answer any of these questions when you order the unit.

Since this is a complete stand alone, it comes with no tune installed. You may be able to find a base tune online that you can start with. But you will either have to tune it yourself or pay someone to do it for you. Dyno tuning your entire VE table is not cheap.

Luis,

How committed are you to the 420A platform?

There is no reason you can't build it into something powerful, but this is a good example of the upcoming battle you have. There is not great support of the 420A eclipses. If you are just starting out (limited experience), you will find it easier to modify a 4g63 eclipse. Partly because the aftermarket support is better, but also because there are so many resources available for reference on 4g63 builds. There are some really awesome 420A guys on here, so I suggest you search them out and keep in contact with them.

Don't let me discourage you, I just wanted you to consider this line of reasoning.

Best of luck!
