Here it is, my first DSM build thread. And my first DSM !

I'll try to update this thead as the restoration/mods go on the car.
As everything now go on FB pages, we are losting a lot of good technical information and forum are more and more empty.
So i decided to keep track of my build right here. And maybe it will help someone one day..!

I'm Alex, i'm from Canada (a french canadian!). I'm 31yo and i've been in the automobile industry since i'm out of school.
Started first in mecanic then as an automobile painter and now as the last 5y im in the insurance as an collision field adjuster.

I've had some cool project car all build/tune by me
Rsx-S
Mazdaspeed protege
EG civic turbo/forged
shit load of other Civic

So thats it for now, i'll drop some photos a long as the build go. got the car for 2 years so i'll have some old pic to show the evolution.

Now, as the winter as come, its time to wrench on the Talon again. This winter, the plan are to clean the underside.
Poly bushing kit, new brakes all around, new exhaust, tune up of the suspension/steering (bushing, ball joint, bearing etc.).
And the come back of the OEM rear LSD, as the previous owner change the rear diff for a non-lsd one.
Have been lucky to source one local.

I broke 5 of these bi***(rear upper table, left and right) its gonna be fun to fix this

And the clean-up/refresh begin of this damn heavy subframe

Really nice work on that strut tower rust repair! I'm betting you could make a nice buck doing this for other people.

Yeah i really enjoy doing project like that but i only have a small home garage (1 car size). This is a real challenge to fit all the equipement and be able to work.

Heck, most of mine is done right outside in the nature including the paint job, engine swap, etc.

Forgot to update my thread. So as i said in my last post, got a new tool.....but..............not enought space in the garage :banghead:.
Its a metal bandsaw.. still brand new in is box cause i do not have any more space!!! I'll have to install it in my fathers garage.

Im still working cleaning the rear end. Damn broken bolt (rear upper control arm). Had to open the inner 1/4 panel and unspot the threaded bracket.

Im now filling both hole with weld then drill & tap..!

Got my parts back, yeahh! Time to coat them next week.
Then install ES bushing + put everything together.
And i'll start posting thumbnail photos instead of the big one, should be cleaner.

Parts are now back on the car. Rear is 95% done. Still need to find 2 vented rear disk + pads + ebrake pad.
Here they are after por15 paint. Had to replace bushing on rear lower toe arm and rear lower control arm.

While waiting for the brakes parts, i removed the tranny for a clutch replacement. Still thinking if i go ACT or southbend..

So far so good, the car is soon to be ready for summer.
-Finished the read end in new(suspension arm, bushing, brake, ebrake etc.)
-Installed an ACT 6 puck sprung with PP
-New oil in engine/tranny/t-case/diff (rotella, redline mt90. redline heavy shockproof)
-Fix some oil leak
-Made a short ram intake + paint the I/C piping in wrinckle black
-Boost leak detection with my DIY super cheap tester

So by now im waiting for the metal supplier to open to public (because covid -_-). Should have all my parts to build the turbo back exhaust.

Next update will be the exhaust build!

Ordered my 3" SS304 piping. Not bad 250$ CAD (177$USD) for 20 feet 3" tubing + 12" 5/16 rod (hanger). I'll have enought to build a second exhaust.
I'll post pic of the fab process.

And so............i just bought an other 1G :D
The black 91 previously showed in this thread is way to rusty to try to fix it. But it is complete with a good running mecanic and a really clean interior.
I'll convert it to the 1GA look + all of the engine assembly. This red one is really clean with onlye some surface rust under. came with some goodyz (dsmlink, kyb agx, fmic, wheel)

I'll start an other thread for this one, maybe this late summer/fall. Only gave one garage and the 2G is taking the room.

Finally! Got my tubes! This is a project i've been waiting to do for a long time. First stainless project with my TIG!

Parts are tack together for mock up, i'll weld it final when eveything will be perfect.
Here is some pics, DP + main tube is done. Im about to start the "S" shape tube for the muffler.

This is really a good little saw. Fit perfect in my small house garage.
Very quiet, cut straight. Had a problem with a warped blade and replaced it with a better quality one (stock one known for being cheap).

So dont hesitate for one! It's cheap and does the job right!

The bird is out! Finally done.
I do have some tuning to do and then... well.. i need the room for the 1st gen project.. Will see!
I dont think there will be any update soon. Maybe a new build thread for the complete resto-mod of the 1ga/1gb
