i have a 98 2.4l n/t with a auto transmission. I made a sharp left turn and heard a grinding sound from the trans. i can best describe it as it sounded like a rock got sucked into the torque converter. the grinding sounds went away after just a few seconds but it did put it into limp mode. I turned it off and started it back up and drove it home. when i got home i noticed it was making a strange sound at idle almost like a rod knock but its definitely coming from the transmission. it started shifting a little funny right before this all happend it would go through 1st and 2nd alright but it would almost skip 3rd and go into o/d fall on its face then kick back down to 2nd and shift normally any ideas on why its shifting bad or what that awful noise could be. i checked the starter the teeth were slightly rounded off at the tips but it didn't seem to be in bad enough shape to make the noise i was hearing any suggestions on what i should check first would be appreciated. it did throw a code for the torque converter pressure solenoid when it went into limp mode
