Hello guys,
I got a hold of some nice Rx8 seats for dirt cheap in excellent condition that I could not turn down.
My question is, has anyone installed this seats in a 2g? I have not been able to do a mock up or anything like that. Ive searched here in the forums and done a Google search as well and nothing. Looks like there will be lots of custom work, and welding. Just wondering if anyone has done.
Thanks guys. Here are some pics.

I highly doubt these will be a direct fit. Like you said, fabrication will be necessary.

I'm not really expecting anyone to comment here saying that they have done this before, because this is a very specific situation.

Those seats really do look good though! Great find! And good luck with this; be sure to take your time to avoid errors.

It's not very hard to do, nor is it a lot of work. The quickest and easiest way is to take the mount/bottom rails off the stock seats and bolt them into the car. Cut the mounting feet off the aftermarket seats and place the seat directly on top of the stock rails. Position it as close as possible to to the center console and tack weld. Check clearances, remove and add a few stitch welds and youre done.

Since the driver seat is power it makes it a bit more involved, but @lasthope05 is right, just takes time and patience. I put rx8 seats in my last mx3 and it was a bit of a bear, but they worked decent overall, they look nice and have nice kidney bolsters, I just wasnt a fan of the leather.

I took a brief look at the rails to try and remove them but like you say, the driver seems tthe more complex to even remove the actual rail from the seat. I know it can be done but again like ya say, I have to take my time.

The problem arizes from the height adjustment mechanisms, linkages and motors. It's not just a straight slider. You might be best off making a jig/buck/plug of the stock mounting points and modifying the rx8 sliders to fit. I did this with the Tenzo-R seats I previously had in my 1g, and while it worked well, the seats just didn't fit the car well.

This is the stock mount/rail without the slider. Remove only the mounting feet of the RX8 seats(usually held in with rivets) and weld directly on top of this. Again, it's not complicated at all. I honestly don't know what else to tell you.

I'd bet this will make the seats too tall, the rx8 seats are a bit taller than DSM seats IIRC. Another option is just comparing the stock rails to the rx8 ones and modifying them. Either way it'll take some modifications/fab.

Any progress on getting these in? I have the option to buy a nice clean set of these (non power black leather) and would also like to how they fit. Right now I'm at a toss up with getting rsx or Celica gt or the rx8 seat.

It's way easier to put these seats into a 2g than a 1g believe me I currently have RX8 seats in my 1g and they aren't bad. I'm a little shorter than most at 5'7" but the hight of the seat is one thing but you can adjust that seat position hight with the power seat. The only thing I haven't hooked up were the heater seats which I should have.

I put Rx8 seats in my Eagle Talon 95. Took me a few hours . If you can weld its easy enough. Take the seats apart . Easy to do . Take the feet off the dsm rails cut them off . Drill all the rivets out of the rx8 rails throw the frame in the car mark thre stuff you gotta weld and bam . For the passenger side I ground the head of a 14mm bolt down so the rail would pass over the bolt adjusting .
