I very well may tame you up on that! All help i can get haha. I have watched all the videos and ones on youtube also to try get a head start. The hardest part for me is initial setup since never done it and some of the videos dont specify some things so i went googling (mainly like best order to do things in etc) but if its ok and i need help can i pm you on fb?

Yes, PM on Facebook is fine with me. I can also be reached at [email protected].

Things have changed since last week and it means huge delays for me on the tuning side of stuff.

I had my yearly checkup on the car and it failed on some rust, i knew i had some but didnt think it go that bad but it was so im going to have to fix this. Its on the rear rockers so in the normal place. This means that i shall fix this and i will also do the bodywork for some of the aero mods so i expect this to be off the road for a while. This wont be a fast job done as i hate bodywork and avoid it as much as possible LOL. I shall done some other welding at the same time for my fuel tank and racing pedals and other bits to be done.

Other then that i got the hood finished off and its now ready to paint.

I also got some weights from my scales and its amazingly lighter!

Stock weighs in at 38.8lbs
Mine comes in at 15.8lbs!

Thats a huge saving of weight!

Looking good Seniõr Bobby :) Part of me really likes the white hood. Ever considered going two tone?
Nah not white and red, i would like to wrap the car though with something special to make it stand out and be unique for racing but i think it might cost me alot to do a custom print wrap but im going to look into it and see, i think my idea will do good for publicity for racing series

I always go back through your build just to keep me hoping on my build! That and you build quality!
Thats nice to hear dude. I also do the same with other build for racing. I also hit up youtube for alot of inspiration to! Sometimes its needed to give that extra kick

Todays goal was to start looking into my rust, i got all of the drivers side ready and i can finish the small bit once its at work to stop the mounting for the trailing arm from flexing.

The passenger side is next up as well as the unnder cross member as thats corroded so much i could crush it in my hand!

Im not going to rebuild all this like stock oem though as i dont want it to colleft water or trap dirt again so my deal here is to make it strong and open.
The trailing arm mounting will stay but i am going to weld supports to the plate and then tube from the inside to outer frame rail then from the rear to the inner section where the rear seats go vertical! This allows both directions to be braced and very strongly supported and also open to free air! Its also less layers like the oem setup uses.
The sides will be nesr oem but for the rear most part it will angle it inwards and this will make way for my resr brake ducting tubing as to not get in the way of my tires. So its a fairly decent adjustment to do but worth doing it now then later.

The under cross member is now going in favor of another crossbar thats bolted in from the frame rails also, then a gusset plate welded to the bar then bolted into the floor, i wanted this removeable incase i have any plans later on and i can easily unbolt then cut out.

I feel your pain pal, I'm dealing with the same area on both sides of my 2G, rust holes the size of your fist  these 2Gs rot worse than the 1Gs. Mind you my GVR4 is like swiss cheese
The 2G just collects water and dirt. It was nice when it came over but the salt on the roads killed it. It happens and when i do it im going to close it all off so it wont happen again

I agree, it’s like the side skirts need to be taken off every year and the area cleaned. Both my front strut towers have also rotted and the underside area of them rotted also. Water is like inside the front frame rails? Probably worth checking on yours? Your tops look good but there might be hidden horrors inside those front wheel arches

Thats one place i have checked and it seems ok, i will check again once i clean all the dirt off for under coating. I know my front rad support is old but not that weak yet but its a common issue on the dsm again

Cavity waxing will go along ways as far as rust proofing.
Thats also on my list to do this part. I think its a great idea, the primer looks good inside the rest but better to protect then leave it bare. i want to look into sealing some holes that traps water and dirt easily but without causing drainage issues of course

2 weekends have passed and nothing done since my last update because both weekend we had huge storms and it was super rainly and windy! I could not do any work on the car since i have to do all this outside (small garage problems)

So this weekend was ment to be better looking at the weather app and it was not far off but still wrong. Sat was windy and rain in the AM and by noon dried up and sun came out. Sunday was pretty much rain allday and later in the afternoon.

On the sat i managed to dewing the back, chop out the passenger side rust and some more inside rust on the trunk area,
Now that just leaves me to take off the rear subframe and remove that section of corroded metal ontop of the frame so thats next on my list but need a good full day of sun for that! (Lets hope this coming weekend is good)

Sunday as i said was horrible but it gave me a chance to strip the engine down and get ready for my new intake and fueling needs, this includes an evo 2 intake manifold, evo 3 throttle body (fiav bypass) and fic hi z 1100cc (now known as 1200 by fic) this means i can finally use all my potential of my hybrid 16G and see where i get to my 400hp im looking for. I have got the ecmlink SD kit with harness for a plug and play setup so hopefully this will help free some power up too.

I got rid of all the evap canister and lines as i dont need any of it! (New fuel tank means no oem lines needed)

Also notice my brake booster is now missing! Wonder what this could mean???

(Current server issue is causing thumbnails only for some reason)
