What’s up guys! Picked up another project LOL I can’t seem to get enough of these cars❤️ Anyways backstory on this car, it’s a 1995 eagle talon TSI fwd auto. I was on the Facebook marketplace when I spotted this beaut for 750! (Not running though). Being familiar with the dsm platform I wasn’t hesitant on messaging him and shooting him an offer for 600 and picking it up the next day no questions asked, he quickly replied with a yes! So off I was picking up another project

Now this vehicle was not running and he stated in the add it needed battery cables and brakes so I decided not to mess with it in a parking lot and towed it back to my shop

Once i got back to the garage I looked over everything and it appeared to be a very stock and well kept DSM for the most part apart from the exterior blemishes, I decided to but a fresh battery in it and see what would happen, why not right? And no joke SHE FIRED RIGHT UP I was so genuinely surprised at how well it was running.

Now I was super eager to drive it! I went ahead and made sure everything looked in order and also went ahead and make a crude coolant overflow out of a Gatorade bottle(if it works it works!). I took her around the block and let me tell ya, for 198k miles she drives like butter, shift smoothing, no clunks or poor running. only rattling is from the old interior which I don’t mind at all.

The PO also said the brakes needed to be done ASAP so I decided to look over it all and make sure the car was safe, and OMG lemme just say how do people let brakes get this bad?!?!

Luckily I have another 2g parts car I can use the calipers from. Back to the streets she goes!!

Now being a 95 talon I wasn’t too fond of the GA body style and the one on the car was messed up anyways

I searched far and wide for a 97-98 talon bumper locally with no avail but one of my buddies gratuitously donated his spare bumper!! What a great homie!!

Now at this point I’ve been just daily driving the car and enjoying it for what it is, I also went ahead and installed a boost gauge and AEM WB in preparation for ecmlink, I cannot wait!

Oh my god that picture from the rear with the lights on in the dark looks A-MAZING! :applause: Almost looks like it's out of a new NFS game or something, haha.

You inspire me to get my 98 TSI back on the streets!!!

Time for an update! It’s been about 2 months since I’ve last updated but here we are! I’ve been collecting/waiting for parts and finally have been able to install them all. First Since I’m upgrading the turbo I went ahead and installed a front mount from a parts car that I have.

One of my buddies was selling an fp green and I couldn’t pass it up, I also went ahead and picked up a walbro 255 fuel pump and 1200cc injectors

I got ECMLINK v3 with SD aswell and got it tuned for 13 psi until I finish the rest of the car, even then the car feels great and responsive even with the automatic! I next want to paint the car so I went and found a hatch from a 98 talon with the high rise

I also went and fixed the foggy headlights and modified them to allow 98 eclipse black housings to fit inside the 95 headlights and I think it looks a lot better now

Now all that this car really needs now is a good paint job and lowering, I can’t say it’ll be done then but it will be mostly complete for what I want!

Update! Update! Jeez it’s nearly been a year.. Anyways, onto some things I’ve been doing with the car. In the past year I’ve really just been driving the car and enjoying it for what it is.

Forced Fours new SMART 150 TCM. Install was fairly straightforward and what I did was make a Nice patch harness for easy installation. This by far made the biggest difference to driveability to me but once I started understanding what some values mean and shift maps it was rock on!! Can’t wait to turn this thing up hehe
