There is no picture

Don’t know what happened but it’s up now.

So that im pretty sure that connects to the fresh air control or whatever its called. Look at the center vent and the right side has a knob that controls the mechanism for that, the other side of the cable connects to the hvac unit under the dash kinda behind the ecu but up a little higher.

Will I have to pull the dash ?

Also I will add I still have the cable connected to the recirculating switch. The one that toggles left and right on the hvac console.

Not sure, i think not. You can pop the center vent out easily. Maybe then remove the right hand side kick panel or the radio and you might be able to get in there. Itll probably suck but it seems accessible. If left unplugged it won't won't hurt anything. You might just have cold air blowing thru even when heat is selected. Not really sure what the system is actually called or how it works but i know its not essential. Mine is hooked up and i recommend you hook yours up but dont kill yourself working over it.

Worst case I’ll hit up the junk yard tmrw and see where I find it on the car I pulled the dash from.

Ill go look and get a pic, bout to go clean my garage. Currently looks like all the transformers and decepticons fought and died in a great battle in there.

That looks like it could be a transmission shifter cable, I cant tell from the size from the picture but that's what it looks like.

It is about 12 inches long .

Is the car an auto?

It’s a 5 speed. I’m really hoping it’s not part of the dsm. I’ve never seen what’s inside this glove box and hoping it’s from a different vehicle.

It’s a 1/8th inch cable.

The last pic is from the passenger floor looking up into the dash, the length seems similar imo

The dash I pulled it from was an auto but I never removed the cotter pins to the auto shifter. Just to rule that out.

Ok, but how long is the cable? But seriously that is not long enough for a shifter cable on a Dsm.

Dang boss!!! I think you got it and have put my mind at ease. 10 years on these forums and back again and this site is just as quick even as these babies age. This site just proves how amazing dsm owners are. These cars will never be a thing in the past. Plenty of love sent out to this forum and the people to go out their way to reply!

Ya, that thing. Thats it, the COOL AIR BYPASS lever haha. I still dont really know what it does but whatever glad you found your answer.
