Im running the aem ems v1 with a 12 tooth disk. My factory rpm gauge is reading off by maybe 1800-2k rpm. I tapped the signal at the ecu from the crankshaft sensor(blue/white) but the car wouldnt start. obviously the signal bypassed and went to the cluster. I disconnected the wire to the ecu pin 58(like you do in evo ecu swaps) and i got the same thing. I tapped into the white wire(transistor Signal for rpm cluster) and came up with the same thing. Am i missing something or what? Rpm reads fine in AEM, the recommended tacho settings dont work on dsms for the oem cluster. Cluster read correctly with all other ecus ive ran so i know its a input/output issue.

What's the tacho output number now? IIRC, you need to change the tacho output number if you change the tooth count. I imagine you didn't set it properly when you installed the trigger disc.
So now it's reading 1800-2000rpm more at idle? If so, try to make the number double and then see if it reads fine or not.
