I’ve got a 1G FWD with a broken mounting stud for the fuel tank strap, is there a way to replace said stud or do I need to figure out another way to bolt my fuel tank back in? I’ve searched and searched for replacement methods and parts but keep coming up empty handed, surely I’m not the only one to come across this issue. Any recommendations would be much appreciated!

Pull out tank and mock up something either way its hard to do, even with the awd cars. fwd would be not fun, awd has the kits from rtm racing to fix this.

The tanks already out, I pulled it to replace it, unfortunately one of the studs broke off during removal. Now I have my new tank and pump setup but I’ve got to figure this minor issue out first before it can go back together.

Do you have any way to drill and tap where the original bolt was. You might even get lucky using a easy out and then just replace the bolt .. I even saw some one grind down where the bolt was broke and then weld in a bolt .. Best of luck...…….

Did you ever figure this out? I’m dealing with the same issue on my 91 fwd one of the strap bolts snapped

I did, I cut off the stud as close as I could get to the bottom of the car, then I used an air hammer to punch the remainder of the broken studs out. Afterwards I drilled a hole from the bottom of the car through rear trunk pan. Installed two button head bolts with some nice washers and bolted it up like normal.
