Just curious how many people are still active here in this forum? I’m in Denver and trying to learn about these cars and their engines more as I recently picked up a 91 galant vr4 and am trying to troubleshoot some headaches. I want to pick someone’s brain and maybe see what I should do next before my wife makes me sell my baby.
She told me if it’s not running by June I’m SOL

It’s kinda running, but doesn’t stay running, there’s a few loose wires in the engine bay that I don’t know where they go. Plus my door light fuse is constantly tripping. There’s a good handful of problems.
My main thing is wanting to replace the wire harness and make sure everything is the correct location.

Is it idling low then stalling? What exactly is it doing?

Post a picture of the wires and where they go to?

Not sure if the door switch are the same as 1g’s but mine didn’t work when I got mine. Previous owner pulled the fuse. I put one in and it started working but not all the time. The door switch on the bottom was corroded on both sides so I took them apart, cleaned them and reinstalled and haven’t had an issue in two years.

Rodent chewed harness can be a nightmare.

I wish a rodent chewed mine, it was more of a hack diy mechanic. And it has to be running maybe not drive worthy but at least running. As for the idle it’s crazy high, unfortunately my rpm gauge stopped working last week somehow. But I know on the tune it’s suppose to idle at 4500. Which sounds insane to me. I will post more pics and try to get a video this weekend when I open her back up.
I’m currently going thru my new wire harness and trying to tape everything (Insulated thick rubber tape) vs wire loom.
Here’s a pic of the tune setup with the chip

That 4500 is not your idle its where your first stutterbox setting is at.
Yes your right, sorry I meant it’s suppose to idle at 850 but it sounds like a solid 3k-4500 on startup. I haven’t let it start up and run for more then probably 30sec as I’m nervous of doing any damage. But I do know that I need to get a permanent battery for it as I just swap batteries from my subie into it when I want to start it.
it does stay steady idle and then after 20sec it seems to fluctuate a little. i will make sure I get a video tomorrow or Saturday so it provides better evidence of what I’m talking about.

The best advice we can give you is to do a boost leak test then go through this entire link. https://www.sixsigmatuning.com/dsm-idle-control
That link should basically be the starting point of any new car project.

Just stick with it and finish 1 thing at a time. Don't get in a hurry but keep doing one more thing until finally it comes to life.

Thank you guys very much for the info! I will definitely check this out.
if anyone feels like making extra money or enjoying some beer and food and can help out I won’t ever complain.

Where in Denver?
Both the kids live in the city now and the wife and I spend the winters up in Boulder to get away from the gray skys and wet that come from living next to the big lakes.

I’m in aurora by cherry creek reservoir, I has one gentleman helping me but he went mia on me. And ya I’m open schedule if anyone ever does. Even if i can sneak a peak into someone’s engine bay and get a good visual of the wire harness

There was a pretty good sized DSM community in the Denver area some years back, not sure how many are still out there. These days most regional forums in any online community are much quieter than they used to be due to so-shul meediuh. If you're looking for tech help I'd say use the Tech Forums where most here spend most of their time. I'll move this thread to a more appropriate forum.

Hey, I’m north Denver but I worked on a 420a (turbo’d now) so I probably won’t be much help to ya. But we can get together some day if you want!

If anyone is free this weekend I would love to get some assistance. I’m almost done doing the wire harness swap but curious about some loose ends. I will post some pics. Some things I’m wondering about are the header wire that I have laying out and a couple others

No I only had two pics I was able to get when I had another gentleman helping me. but I think I saw some from another website. I will just have to keep searching for where I found it.

On the video is hard to see exactly what wire are.

Strip the wires from the end of the bloom and take some pics of the wires that are disconnected, make sure the colors are visible or even let us know what colors are they, if they are attached to a connector, take a pic of the connector to see it, make sure to get a good view of how many wires the connector has and shape of the connector.

If there is a sensor without a connectors make sure when taking the pic, the surrounding of the connector is visible so we know where the connector is attached to.

Just post as many pics as you can to help better.
