Dear AEM 4G63 Guru's..

I have hit a frustrating bottle neck. This connector has proved elusive and AEM has no information on supplier or alternative part number.

I am trying to locate this coax connector for my Evo Camino build (Mighty MAX) any info would be appreciated!

This is needed to run the AEM CD-5 display, so we can get a initial tune and get this thing burning corn. I am trying to exhaust all options before making an attempt to pin wires directly to the lead.

Thanks for the reply. Looks like that is a adapter for OBDII equipped vehicles. My 6 bolt came out of a 1991 Talon so i do not have a OBD port.

This is one big reason that I didn't buy the AEM standalone, they have terrible support after the sale.

That connector's part number is 3-1201-12. But unfortunately discontinued since Series 2 for 1g got discontinued some years ago. If you are lucky, some shop still have it in stock. Or you should contact AEM tech support. Probably they would help you.
And correct, to use a CD-5/7 with EMS Series 2, you need to have that connector (or some alternative method) to receive CAN1L signal from pin #75 via AEMnet adapter.

I spoke with the AEM Tech support and he did make a effort to help but it seems the manufacture
information as been lost somewhere along the way. I rolled the dice and ordered this connector from Mouser electronics. The part will arrive tomorrow, I will know if it works on Saturday and will post back with results in hope it may be useful to someone else down the road.

Fingers crossed!

It should work. perhaps it would require slight modification but the dimension is almost identical with my AEM connector.

Seriously? they lost the manufacturer of a foul-able item like a connector on an expensive ecu? that crap is inexcusable from a company as big as AEM, or maybe they just want you to buy a new ecu instead of encouraging you to use the one that you already own? theirs no money to be made off of you by selling you a connector vs a new ecu right? as I said earlier, I wont own one of their standalone's after seeing how they treated owners of the AEM V1 when the V2 came out, they wouldn't do a thing to support the owners of the V1 at all including software uploads even, that's nonsense and what steered me to Link Ecu, the support alone is worth the price of the standalone from them.

I've read another testimony that someone with v1 was trying to get help and basically they said get v2 or whatever new stuff was out; we can't help you. I get that products eventually go stale but it seems like a common theme.

Exactly what my experience was through research on a used V1

Thanks for help!

The clip i referenced above is a exact fit. I'm going to email the info to AEM in hopes they will keep it on file for the next guy.

Cheers!

If you wanna ditch that and go infinity I can hook you up. Just got one myself with plug and play harness.

This is something I've wondered about, in the event that our 30 year old (and getting older) stuff becomes non-maintainable.
It looks like they can do flex-fuel.
Would it be a 506 probably?
Which plug and play harness did you get? Closest one I see is for Evo 8.

An Evo 8 harness should work in a dsm,
May possibly need a couple wires changed around, people use evo 8 ecu’s in dsms all the time. yes 506 or 508 if you plan to only have hi Z injectors and want the option of 8. 506 runs 4-6 injectors and supports hi and low Z injector

the infinity is way faster, has fail safes, In boost openloop flex fuel, and a Wideband plug directly to the ecu if using the harness

Glad to hear!

EMS Series 2 with the latest firmware also can do flex fuel and O2/fuel pressure/oil pressure/coolant temp fail safes.
Yes, the evo harness work in dsm as @Archer Fabrications said. Using an infinity in a 1g, you can go with : an infinity evo harness + a 1g/2g jumper with swapping some pins or replace the evo harness's connectors with 1g connectors or just use an universal harness.

I see that you use an AEM EMS Series 2.
Are you using the current model that they sell for 2g and evo8? Or did you get one of the 1g units before AEM discontinued it?

I used to consider to go with the infinity when it was released, because of the faster processor and many features that the series 2 didn't have. But most of features I wanted just came with the latest firmware update. So I decided to stay with the Series 2. Next upgrade I would go with the infinity.
