Another year another project. I picked this roller up from a buddy of mine earlier on this year. I have some pretty big plans with the car and goal is to have it done before spring next year. I have been stock piling parts here and there for this build. Car came with basically everything minus the engine and ECU. So basically a complete car. Another key to point out is that the car was from down south so no rust anywhere. Underbody is immaculate. Some pics of the car.

Current stages of the car. Everything has been removed from the engine bay minus a few lines. Engine harness was pulled = pain in the ass, chassis harness was pulled = bigger pain in the ass. Engine bay was degreased and power washed same with the trans and t case. Time for some welding, sanding and shooting some paint.

Nice score!!

Looks clean! Whats do these "big plans" entail?
Just trying to build a fast street car that I can cruise around in or take to the track. Stick around and see the updates for more details. You definitely will not be disappointed.

Got a few things done this weekend. Was able to remove all the front suspension. Rebuilt both lower control arms with es bushings and new balljoints. Got new tie rods installed as well as have new endlinks. My biggest accomplishment was painting the engine bay. Paint layed down great, came out a little darker that I thought it would but I'm happy with it. More progress to be made when I get back from Texas. Enjoy!

Been keeping busy with the car and work. Finished bleeding the brakes on the car and buttoning up a couple things in the engine bay before I start working on the harnesses. Need to wait for a female to female union so I can hook up my fuel line.

In the mean time I also got the trans cleaned and painted. Looks great. Hope it holds up. Pulled out the old seal and will put new ones it when the paint dries.

Finally I got my kelford 280 cams in, cut and welded my 1g driver's side motor mount - got some good welds with the Tig, and finally picked up a 2g JMF race intake that had a map sensor bung welded to it, cut out a block off plate as I'm using a different style and will hook up to the barb fittings.

JMF Intake manifold installed, alternator installed along with the relocation kit, Aem fuel rail installed as well as 2200 cc injectors, and throttle body installed with Fiav block off plate. Last think to do is when the engine is in the bay is figure out where I want to mount the catch can and I will have to weld on the fitting to the valve cover. Also going to get rid of the clear timing cover and put on the oem one. More to come.

Couple things done last night. Got the chassis harness all cleaned up. Wires have been pulled out of harness for the alternator to run on the back side of the engine bay. Also had my wife buy some fir tree clips from Amazon. Worked out great!!!

Finally the engine is in the vehicle. Still have a ton of stuff left to do but progress is being made. Had to shim the throw out bearing ball since I didn't like the placement of the clutch fork when the trans was mated to the engine. But have a good idea where I want to place my catch can setup and make the battery tray.

Had my dad come over and got a few things knocked out. Clutch slave bled, axles installed (Had to replace one of the boots as it was ripped, good thing I had some spare axles laying around), Megan racing coilovers installed as well as rear adjustable control arms ( Didn't really need to install these as the previous owner had some rear camber bolts installed, oh well this will atleast give me more adjustability). Also my dad was kind enought to cut out some shifter linkage shims for me.

Got a ton of stuff in the mail. Got all my an fitting, flex fuel sensor as well as some gasket making material. Damn oil drain fitting on my red 2g keeps leaking. Hoping to fix it before I take the car out.

Those shims look great. This projects keeps moving along quickly. Keep up the good work.

Thanks man. I didn't feel like spending money on shims/inserts that are allready out there so said why not just make some myself based on the dimensions needed to the cotter pin hole.

This quick progress is also thanks to hoarding of parts before I even found a shell to work on. Glad I found a clean rust free shell because it makes taking things apart so much easier.

Hoarding parts is the way to go, my project gets held up way too much just looking for parts. That shell looks great.

Yea for sure I can totally see that being an issue. Then once your waiting on parts you tend to lose motivation. On a side note I will try and shoot some pics of the underbody. You can see all the zinc playing on the factory bolts.
