So a bit of background about me. I owned a 1g GST eclipse back last year as a DD and it was awesome. I had to get rid of it because it wasn't the most practical. Fast forward to this month, I saw it for sale on CL. Only problem was it was destroyed, the kid I sold it to got in a wreck and it was totaled.

One thing seeing that post did was re-ignite my love for my DSM. Now I am seriously considering selling my 05 subaru sti and getting an AWD 1g dsm and making a clean build. Ill have a good budget to work with so im debating doing one of two things:

1. Spend top dollar for a clean, unmodified 1g and doing everything myself.
2. Buying a bolt on DSM and saving the headache of doing the mods.

My question now is, does anyone have a mildly built "street" 1g dsm? I mean like a clean build that is still quick, which was my goal for my STi that I currently have. The only reason I ask is because I only ever see 1g's as built drag strip monsters or completely riced out. I am just looking for inspiration basically and can't seem to find too many pictures. I guess im also looking for advice. Itll be a big move for me to sell my STi.

This one.........she is all stock except for a set of cams and the PO cut the air can open but I have spare "stock" air cans. I put Link V3 in her. Never thought of selling it since it is so clean and I am driving her today at work, 60 mile round trip. Only found her a couple months ago.

I'm proud of what of what I've built. All of my decisions have been centered around streetabilty with a lot of power. I always advise to build the car yourself unless you hate do mechanical work. My journey has been very rewarding, but expensive.

Didn't say either way. Super nice car. My DD had a dead battery today, so I hopped in the GSX and puttered to work! So much snappier than my Saturn SC2 :toobad:

thanks for responding! So I was wondering, did you paint that white dividing part of the taillight? Or did it come like that for your year? My 1990 gst definitely didn't have that but ive seen more with it. Was that a 91 change?

Put your johnson back in your pant boys. I think he's looking for one to purchase.

More just feeling around to see what people have done. In the spring however, If I do end up selling my subaru ill definitely be looking around for one.

It was that way ever since I have know the car and don't think it has been pieced together at all, but I can't say for 100% sure.
I have a 90 GSX parts car and another builder with a title. I can go look at those and see if they are painted body color in the middle. The 90 Lasers had black in that area and the talons had nothing painted in that area.

My build philosophy has been to keep mine streetable and reliable but with some extra punch. I’ve gone about as far I can with my small 16g turbo, which is basically the same housing as the stock 14b turbo. So it looks stock at first glance. It uses E85 and speed density and has never let me down. I love it the way it is and have no plans to get a bigger turbo.
I have literally removed, swapped, cleaned, or reconditioned every part on this car over the years. The interior has been completely out at one point, gas tank and rear suspension have been out before, all rebuilt motor, transmission, and drivetrain, steering and cooling have been done, etc. It’s been a labor of love and I didn’t get it done in a night or for cheap, but I’m proud of my car too.
The push bar up front is from when it was a Mad Max car and before I repainted it. I do have a perfect front bumper in storage if I ever get tired of the push bar look.

Not sure what condition your Subaru is in, but I’ll always recommend a DSM. Parts are getting harder to come by, but it’s still a viable option for a very fun grocery getter. Especially if you’ve got an alternative DD.
