First pass tcase let go. I have no idea how many miles were on it when I bought it with the auto swap but I've probably done over 200 passes easily and 5k street miles. My first time breaking a tcase on the auto and it's bone stock. I think it's time to upgrade tcases later on. 2nd pass car felt lazy on the stall up 8500rpm in 2nd the car fell on its face. T-Bolt clamp broke and the i.c pipe completely blew off. I'm going to say the clamp was broke on my stall due to the shitty 60ft I've been averaging consistent 1.44-1.47s with this tune up. Low boost 40psi and it was up 3mph in the 1/8mile this was with the pipe blown off at this point. Let off when it shifted to 3rd still ran a 10.2 coasting.

Well I had a good track session for the most part. 1st pass was easy pass but trapped a new p.b. 2nd pass blew a clamp and lost all boost after hitting 3rd another p.b. 3rd pass used a cheap worm clamp all I could find but that also let go a little higher rpms in 3rd. 2 weeks I'll be hitting the track again. This right here put me .05 seconds from the auto holset record with a blown i.c pipe well before the finish line. Time slips are in order of 3 passes.

Small update after the last track visit. The 3 runs I noticed my rpms on the drop shifts were higher than normal like 4-600 rpm higher. I dropped the pan and found some metal in the pan so decided to tear down the transmission and send out the converter. I didn't find anything wrong with the trans but precision did call me. The converter had a couple broke fins and the pump itself was broke. For a broke converter and the i.c pipe blowing off I think the car ran pretty good. The converter should be back by the end of the week so possibly this weekend or next weekend I will make my last attempt of the season to hopefully improve my p.b.

I've been running holsets for a long time and they are great turbos when you look at cost, reliability and performance. With that being said I've had my eye on finding a super 99 with the twin scroll t4 housing. After many many months of searching I found a super 99 with 5 passes and 1 dyno tune with a brand new never used twin scroll housing. I was up in the air whether to buy it or hold off and focus in weight reduction but I decided after this season it's time to move on. I researched a ton and found zero information or results on the super 99 with a twin scroll housing. I know in the t3 flavor I've read it's laggy but I'm not sure what it's being compared to. Based on my results with the Morrison consolidated manifold and my custom machined housing for the holset many said wouldn't work I'd say it should be pretty potent once dialed in. Without further or do the next turbo is here for Kratos.

Here are some pictures of what I found in the trans pan. Upon tearing down the transmission to clean everything I found a cracked drum as well. Couple of the clutches got tore up from the debris. It ended up tearing the valvebody up pretty good so I had to install a shift kit in my spare valvebody along with some used clutch packs I had sitting around. The trans pump also got it's fair share of debris. I couldn't really feel the grooves with my finger nail but I had one spare so I just slapped a good one in for peace of mind. The converter came back and precision covered it under warranty so I had them restall it to a 6 in preparation for the super 99 in the future. Really hoping to get one more run in but who knows.

Well mission accomplished today. I'm calling it a season even knowing more is on tap. I was not even thinking it would run anywhere near this fast or quick. First couple passes were 9.5s boost was all over the place. Decided to rip the ram air off for the last pass this was regardless if I ran slower or faster because I already ran a 9.51 at this point. Well it worked 9.26@147! The feeling of accomplishment going through all the broke parts, adjustments countless hours fine tuning small was not easy. Dave Ruby is the Holset king but I have set the Automatic Holset record and moved to #2 on the list in a street legal/driven 2900 lbs street car. This really makes me 2nd guess putting the super99 on the car. Not sure how much more is left in the turbo but a upgraded tcase to allow me to launch harder for those low 1.3s maybe a high 1.2 60ft and if I got down to the 2450lbs range well I think that 8.77 is in the cross hairs. Lots and lots of time to think about everything as I will not be racing or driving at all next year. So there won't be any updates in the foreseeable future. Thanks to everyone that has followed my journey and I hope this inspires you guys to keep pushing forward. Long live the DSM!

congrats brandon!! much deserved. im surprised you didnt post up your fancy bandage too to show that dedication lo
l
Josh LOL! I cut my hand deep while loading the car. I had 2 small bandages and some electrical tape and nothing was going to stop me from running that day!

The car is officially in hibernation. I have made my plan on what I'm going to do with it. Since I have a very long off season I have time to slowly gather parts while I'm gone. I'm going to have Morrison fabrications build me a Downpipe so I can go back to running a full muffled exhaust. The exhaust manifold will be getting egt bungs so I can monitor and set up some more fail safes. Fire suppression system and certified cage are priority now that I'm close to hitting 150mph. I've already torn down my 2 tcases to get the 300m upgrade. That's about it no big crazy changes, mechanically it's staying the same. Good luck to everyone in 2020 and I'll be back with updates 2021.

Wow, this thing has been quite the journey eh? Very cool going through the whole thread. My favorite part is seeing a big cam, short runner intake manifold powerband just destroy a small housing single-scroll setup. I've always preached the benefits of twin-scroll and it's always nice to find good hard evidence like that.

Good luck to you!

Been home for a few days now and all the parts I ordered and shipped out have been slowly coming in. I plan to assemble both of my tcases tomorrow. At least now I don't have to worry as much about launching the car softly with the 300m upgrades. In the process of installing the manifold, turbo and Downpipe now!

I fired the car up after 11 months of sitting. I need to run the egt wires to cab still, I don't care for the oil feedline I bought so I will probably re-route it. The Downpipe is great, I'm glad I decided to reduce it from 4" to 3.5" it gives me some more room under the pan and next to the t-tcase. Tomorrow I will assemble the t-cases and driveshaft loop. I also need to route coolant lines to the turbo but I have plenty of time.

Amazing man love the morrisonfabrications.com set up.

Thanks man! I loved the ease of having a side exit because it's just out of the way when you need to work underneath the car. The downside it is absolutely obnoxious when going for a cruise. The Morrisons do phenomenal work which made it a no brainer having them build the downpipe for me. I love the 2 piece design with the quick disconnect makes it way easier to pull it off if I need to work on the trans for any reason. I need to pull my welder back out and get some practice in on welding aluminum. It won't be warm here in Kansas until probably April so it gives me plenty of time to get proficient enough so I can build the rest of the exhaust out of aluminum.

I still have a few more surprises that haven't spoke about yet but the updates will be coming as I make progress on the changes. The number 1 thing I wanted to stick to was keeping it mechanically the same because it ran so well with the HX40 so I'm really hoping the Super99 being rated at 103LBS/MIN works out for me. I won't be chasing any records just setting a goal to run 8's consistently without running the turbo maxed out. I think it will ultimately come down to keeping the tune conservative being that my block only has steel rods and custom pistons, no kiggly girdle and I'm still on stock mains which from what I've gathered 1k H.P is where the ARP main studs would probably be a smart move. It sucks because Curt Brown passed away, now I need to find a new machine shop that I can trust for any future engine builds.

I got the main t-case assembled and installed. I also took some pics to show the nice tight fitment of the Downpipe under the pan and next to the t-case. I don't have a power steering pump and the alternator is relocated in the rear but it has so much room.

Frazho posted up an RMR T.B a few days back so I jumped on it. The S90 worked fine for me but I figured mine as well upgrade to probably the best t.b out right now that is still cable driven. I'm waiting on the clamps going to try out the breeze hi-torques since Frazho had really good luck with them on his builds. Next up I'll be ripping the interior out of the car my cage appointment is set for next Friday at Abel racing in Oklahoma.

It’s been over a year since I bought this front subframe and finally installed it. It was built by true street. I was surprised that it actually bolted right in with no modifications and the fitment was really good to me. 47 lbs weight reduction of dead weight which this off season I’m really focused on reducing as much as possible. I am definitely going to add nord lock washers and lock nuts to the a arms for peace of mind. I won’t know how rigid it is until I actually make some passes at the track. I’ve read mixed reviews on them but I’m going to save my opinion until I test this unit on my car. I definitely would not recommend this on a street car. I’m pretty much to the point there probably won’t be much street driving left and more of a dedicated race car which with the 10 point going in is probably a smart idea.

I had to bust my ass today after work to get the interior ripped out but the car is loaded and we’re heading to Abel Racing in Oklahoma to get a 8.5 cage fabricated in the morning.

I painted the inside of the trailer last weekend and snapped a few pics I think it looks great.

Glad you are getting the cage. 150mph requires it, doesn't it?
Trailer is awesome! If I painted the inside of mine, I would be painting AIR......ROFL
