I have the sleeve that is at the front of the drive shaft near the tcase just laying on the drive shaft. It makes a terrible noise when the drive shaft is turning.

I found this picture online so this is not of my actual car but this is the sleeve I am talking about.

What should I do? What does that sleeve attach to?

I'm sure it's that sleeve, it is laying on the drive shaft unattached to the tcase. I've moved it around with my hand. I'll try to get a pic tomorrow. I haven't checked the Tcase oil.

Could I JB weld this sleeve back on until later or should I get a new tcase?

It is a dust shield, you can hammer it back onto the transfer case tail housing, or simply remove it. It is not the end of the world to run without as it is simply a dust shield. This is a normal piece removed when doing an upgraded driveshaft or a 300m tcase anyways.

Tanks that's what I needed to know. I'll try hammering it back and if that doesn't work I'll remove it.

Take it off.

I'm cutting it off today. After that and buttoning up some of the interior I took off for the clutch pedal assembly, I might be ready to start getting some real drive time on this thing.

I can't believe it is actually starting to come to life.

I am following along in case you need a hand. :)

I love driving my, new to me, 1990 GSX. She is such a nice car, no lag, good on gas but evidently looks menacing because on my FIRST DRIVE TO WORK, a kid a a new Camaro Convertible pulls up on me on the freeway and wants to play....so I played!!!

I think I have already posted in every sub forum LOL. It was a major milestone just seeing this thing move under it's own power. I'll probably start a build thread once I am certain that it is actually in drive-able condition.
