Doesn’t look too bad though but now I see something is up with the front end.

It has strut tower rust on both sides. Knowing that going in I am expecting more rust, but did not bother looking for it when buying it because the price had me either way. The engine purrs nicely. I now have two 6 bolts and two 7 bolts. That's 26 bolts! LOL.

Lol. Nice! That’s a lot of bolts Will.

Getting anxious when I look out the garage. 4 DSMs, 1 Honda CRZ, and my Fun50. I did some flipping around of cars today. Got my silver car parked as far as I could get to one side. I really need to invest in car dollies...Trying to clean the garage as much as possible, move summer yard tools to the shed, and find someone to take this 3 pc sectional couch that is taking up one of my two spaces. I am debating which car to pull into the garage first, project unknown or #4.

Parts car my a$$! This thing is way more clean than mine was when I bought it!

Pull the fenders, mask the car with 3M spark protector, cut out those little rust patches, replace them with ones from a true parts car, do some detailed masking, color match the paint, put it back together and you've got a clean build!!!

Man, I'll tell you what. I'd kill for a super clean car, even if it has strut tower rust. It's hard to find these cars with a straight body, clean interior, and a clean and smooth running engine. Much less a GST.

I don't doubt that there are some problems that can't be seen from the pictures. But honestly it looks like it's worth saving. Maybe I'm unrealistic, or maybe I'm too crazy about them. I don't really know. But you'll piss me off if that car goes to the crusher! LOL

It depends on the underside and how far gone it all is. I think that truly goes for both recent purchases. If these are too far gone to save, they will both be part outs. If one is clean underneath and the other isnt, they may get combined into an auto awd drag car. I have a few engines to play with now, so I am planning to refresh my stroker build from 2007. I may end up putting a lot of the go fast parts on the automatic car, and putting a stock rebuilt 6 bolt into the silver car thats just a street car anyway. Then the built 2.3L could power the auto drag car.

I dont know what will happen with them yet. I plan to update the build threads often for my own "journal" but you guys are making it way more fun so please follow along and find out! Pose questions, give me your rants. Tell me what 2g oem parts you need LOL

So today I noticed that about half of the clear coat on the hood has water between it and the paint. It is strange as can be. Certainly a sign that some poor rework was done at some point.

If I push down in the middle of the hood I can see water flowing thru half of the hood surface. It was trippy.

Dang. But it looked clean in the pics anyway :ohdamn:

I’ve never seen water between the clear and the paint. That is strange. Well at least it’s not under the paint...or is it???

Side note: you can see the parts car (kinda) in my avatar. Its a 420a automatic with a rod knock and strut tower rust holes. I sold off about $900 worth of parts so far. It still has a LOT of stuff on it, otherwise it would be headed to the crusher. I paid $170 for it.

Does it have the leak detection pump? Does it have fog lights? Does it have power mirrors? LOL

Mirrors sold already. Fog lights are there but brackets are super crusty and people havent wanted them after seeing a pic. I have no idea what the leak detection pump is. I assume emissions equipment? Yes, it should be on there I guess...

It's part of the evap system. If you get under the car and look between the gas tank and the trunk it should be there.

Okay, did you need it? PM me for anything U need man. I will try to help you out. This thing needs to be gone before long. Its been sitting almost a year. If anyone needs 420a parts or body/interior parts, please PM me so I dont have to throw away so many good parts...
