Hey everyone I'm curious to know if I were to run a Walboro 190lph fuel pump and 650cc injectors would I need dsmlink? Would something like a SAFC work? I dont have the funds for dsmlink

No. SAFC bad.
Don’t touch.

Save money for Link. Can’t change injectors without a way of remapping.
Why the 190 over the 255?

If keeping power below 300whp. Stock 450cc injectors are fine. 275whp with good margin of safety.

I'm wanting to go for the 300 mark and I was thinking 190 to not have to get a for, why is the safc so bad?

Changes fuel mass without a means of controlling or changing anything else like ignition timing as well. Not cool.

I don’t have experience with that.
But evo 16g (small 16g works too) 255, Aeromotive FPR, 450cc injectors, and some other bits got me to the 275-300whp mark. Very easy target.

The above items are correct. Safc is not a capable tuning tool. At best it's an electronic hack.
Sometimes you just have to wait. Good. Fast. Cheap. Pick two.
Fortunately as you get older that last one becomes more subjective.

I had SAFC on my 2g back in the day, late 90s, w 255 and fp green w 660 injectors. It was my daily and drove it to the track almost every weekend I could (2 hour drive one way). Made just over 400 on the dyno and ran high 11’s all day. No issue running the SAFC

I currently have link on my 1g and it’s awesome to say the least.

Even though it isn’t a complete tuning device, it will get the job done. Like everyone stated though, I’d save up and get link. But if you must, SAFC will work.

Save up for Dsmlink and go with a 255 pump. That way you have room to grow. SAFC is not the way to go in 2019.

If you are dead set on only making 300hp on a budget it could be done though, us old timers did it back in the day. I would go with a safc neo, since its better than an safc2, and keep the injectors as close to stock as possible (550's would work for you). I would also recommend an adjustable fuel pressure regulator due to the pump install.

If you are looking to be cheap now, I think going with the 190 isn't a bad idea as itll save costs on the pump and FPR, which is money you can put to link. But you likely will just be spending less now and deferring costs later as you eventually outgrow the 190.

Plus is the rest of the car capable of handling the 300hp you want to run? All timing belt components replaced and in good shape? Aftermarket clutch? Steering, suspension, and brakes all in good shape?

Everything is In good shape ya, I've been talking to a buddy who's been in the dsm game a long time and hes telling me just for the time being to get out of my fuel cut issue I could run a walboro 255 and wont over run the stock regulator as he never has

I wouldn't recommend that personally, lots of people here have had issues overrunning their stock fpr, so I would trust the general opinion. Lots of us have been in the game for years as well.

255 typically overruns the stock regulator. 190 will not. Used FPRs aren't super expensive, I'd go that route. You might spend a penny on lines/fittings but would you rather spend that money or spend the money for a tow (and fixing the car) when something goes wrong?

What lines and fittings would need replacing?

If you want to go full-cheapo, you could delete the stock FPR, and get basically the same fitting that is has on it, but with a barb on the other end. It's like those two bolts that connect it to the fuel rail, and out the other side just get a barb.

Outfit the AFPR with two barb fittings as well (6AN will probably do for both). Grab some fuel hose from Crappy Tire, run the rail barb to the AFPR, and the AFPR back to the stock return line. I don't remember but I don't think you can reuse much of the stock return line so just cut it on a hard-line part near the firewall, and run the hose from the AFPR over the stock return hardline and secure it with a small clamp.

Obviously secure all of these hoses on the barbs with clamps.
