How much room do I need for the Kiggly Girdle?

I think the only piece I need to grind down is the bottom right, it is basically touching (0.0001 away from the block).

Is the rest of it fine?

I grind enough to allow for expansion when it heats up, the last thing you would want is for the girdle to distort the bearing caps because it expanded into the block and the plate lost that war... there is only one place that needs ground down, remember to grind the block, not the plate and most important is to clean, clean, clean when your done to make sure no grindings are left behind, not a single speck anywhere, I suggest a pressure washer.
 
OK thanks, how much is enough, I don't want to grind so much that i lose integrity in the block.

Both will expand with temperature. Both also almost have the same coeffient of thermal expansion (steel or grey cast iron ~6/7 x 10-6in/Fº). Theoritically to be safe you would only need a thou or two clearance.

Even if that is the case, remember that the block is liquid cooled and a much larger heat sink, the plate is in the thick of things being submerged in hot oil, it will heat up more than the block.
 
Not sure if it makes a difference but when i had my 2.4 done i had the machinist check the cap heights where the girdle lays. Sure enough there was variation between them so i had him level them out then line honed with the girdle on.

This is the tough part about finding a shop to setup the girdle. They have to grind the caps to line hone the block, but the caps have to all be the same height so the girdle lays flat.
