Hi all.
I recently picked up a pretty clean 97 eclipse gst. I already have a daily... 15 Ford Fusion and a second car I’ve been working on.. 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix gtp. Been saving that from the emanate death it was going to have if the previous owner didn’t sell it to me . I did a lot of maintenance that was well over due and a couple fun things as all maintenance gets boring. Installed catless long tube headers and a 4in fenderwell intake. But haven’t messed with the boost at all as the stock auto trans is old tired and can’t handle stock boost in 1st gear .
So I wasn’t really looking to get a 3rd car but friend of mine is onto DSM’s. Has 3 2g’s. One gsx he is keeping and 2 GST’s. First one was a bone stock 95 with 110k but needs a lot of work. So I passed on that but fell in love with the 97. So we made a deal and a price I felt was pretty fair as I rarely see these for sale.
So it’s a 97 manual GST. Really solid and straight body. Does have a black unpainted front bumper. No rust that I can see. super clean original interior, no rips in seats and dash is near perfect. I live in Vegas and car came from California. Has 160k miles only modifications I can see is a 3in cat back, k&n filter, front Mount Intercooler, and Bov. I’ve already started with fresh oil change with mobil 1 and trans fluid change with part synchromesh part 75w90 gear oil. Really loving this car and good to be back in a manual trans car! The only issues I know of so far is 3rd gear grinds or doesn’t wanna go in sometimes. Gotta shift it into3rd like you mean it. So a rebuild will be done sooner then later. And the brake and battery light is on, which I’ve think I’ve narrowed it down to the plug going into the alternator the bottom wire is loose. If I push it in farther it turns the dash lights off for a few minutes till it comes back out and turns dash lights back on. So I’ll be fixing that first. Definitely don’t see many 2G around town and If I do unfortunately there usually beat to hell. Hope to meet others in Vegas who still like these cars as well
