I'd imagine that he'll be sitting on that for quite a while. Maybe it's one of those "Wife needs me to sell a car so I listed it just to make her happy" kinds of things. Pricing it high in order to deter buyers? I'm not involved in the 1g scene at all, but wow.

As time goes on the 1g cars will have the highest sale prices for clean examples. The 2g cars build quality is what’s going to hurt them going forward.

I agree. There is a real sharp, bone stock, 90 awd in texas for sale right now for $14k, I think. That price doesn't seem that far off. $35K tickles me tho.

I think pretty much anything with significant modification is going to continue to drop in price and everything that went unmolested will skyrocket.

His modlist makes no sense but it is clean as hell! Sounds like it was built for him and he wrote checks because I see a few things in the mod list that are not right. I built my car, I know exactly what's in it..every detail. It could sell for half what he's asking for it.

For sure. Not often I find FWD cars as I am only looking for the AWD models but this was a decent ad, I thought. Our 97 Spyder was FWD, but she ran REAL good. Just had to deal with torque steer.

I'd respectfully disagree, but for this reason only... The Fast and the Furious. It's the same reason MK4 Supras, R34 (and to a lesser extent R33) Skylines and FD RX7s command astronomical prices while all earlier editions of these cars are marginalized and unappreciated in the market. It's also the same reason the 300z and the 3000gt don't get "legendary" status outside of people in the know too I believe.

I could see it going either way. The 2g is certainly a more iconic car than the 1g DSM - mostly because of F&F... You have brought up a good point.

I still think modded vs unmolested will be the bigger determining factor when it comes to price on these cars in 10-15 years. Even the most tastefully modded car is still modified, and that usually hurts the value of "classic" or "antique" cars.

Yep, and a stock 1g is a much better car than a stock 2g.

That and the wheels don’t fall off of them.

Curious if there is some opinion hiding in there? I am sure you have a list of reasons you believe that to be true. So could your share?

I haven't really thought about which one was better, but now I am... and for clarity, what do you consider them to be better at?

Not saying you are wrong, or picking a fight. I am just curious why you think the 1g is the clear winner in terms of stock for stock? Also, I am sure I missed something, but wheels falling off? What? LOL

My opinion is based off building at least 30 dsm’s 1g and 2g. I’ve also owned both myself.

The 2g door handles fall off, the ball joints fail, and the rear diff is held in with only 3 bolts. When you figure in the more modern but cheap and shared with Chrysler cars from the same era the interior of the 2g hurts it more than helps.

The 1g interior is representative of an era of sports cars. The 2g interior is an avenger.

They’re both great platforms to build on, but stock for stock the 1g’s were way better cars.

Unfortunately, being a better car doesn't necessarily dictate market value when it comes to classics. Physical problems can be solved with money and/or elbow grease. The car needs high demand and a good story, and nothing is going to compel the enthusiast with money (the guys that decide what value is) better than Paul Walker's opening scene of the top grossing car movie franchise in history, especially if they're buying a car to brag about to their friends. Especially when they don't even work on the cars themselves anyway. That's just the way it is...

Why does it look like he rattle canned the turbo hot parts while on the car? L O L

Seems highly opinionated. You just like 1gs more which isn't a bad thing but the current fastest dsm is a 2g so doesn't mean you're knocks on the rear diff and avenger interior are biased.

Either way 30k for that car is hilarious.

Even higher! What is happening?

I would be pissed to give up 5k for that mess, let alone that insane price.
