Pulled the valve cover to replace it and took a few pics of valve train. I'm going to get this thing cleaned up and baby it for awhile. I found a doosie of a wiring issue due to no heat shield on the exhaust manifold.

DSM Resurrection
First time VLOG experience so please bare with me as I learn as I go. Also question for the moderators, would it be okay to give the site recognition for all the help I'm receiving from everyone? I wanted to ask before I said anything.

I've finally had a chance to look test alternator and battery which both are bad. The car will barely turn over 2-3 times before the battery drains even on a charger. With the jumper cables hooked up to my SUV the car turns over like it should but it won't start. I've not taken the time to check if I have spark from the coil packs due to needing alt/battery. I've been at this phase since mid December but I'll have everything replaced around mid February. In the meantime I'm going to clean the engine bay up. I'm going to remove all the vacuum lines out of the car which are already unhooked. I've got some gaskets to replace etc.

I bought a Tactrix Openport 2.0 so that I can use Ecuflash/Evoscan w/ Ceddymods to tune with the black box ECU. I also bought a spare black box ECU and a factory MAF sensor just in case I have problem using the 3” GM MAF and translator. All that’s left now to get the GSX resurrection started is a new alternator. I’m not sure if I’ll find 90 amp alternator to use instead of the stock one quite yet but it’s definitely an option.

I got my alternator today so tomorrow I can get everything back together o I can see if everything on the ignition system is working. I had a blown alternator fuse when I went to start it so I need to make sure I’m getting spark. I’m getting fuel for sure but what seemed to me a weak park. I bought another ECU in case it may have fried during the event that caused the blown fuse. I’ll update tomorrow fingers crossed

I’m super bummed out today. I got my door handles and alternator all ready to install and Amazon sent me 2 passenger door handles and the alternator plug in is wrong. Well it’ll be a little bit longer before I can get it running again! I’ll end the crying there for today

Finally was able to buy a used 2G alternator last week and I finally have a day off to go install it! Only bad thing is it means I have to install my new driver side door handle! All I have left to do on it is get the freakin latch rod popped in and it’s done but I’m nowhere near getting it in! I’ll pay someone $50 to come do it :banghead: Seriously, anyone near Maryville, TN I’ll pay you LOL

I finally had a day off and was able to get my alternator bolted back in. I’ve got to run some new wire from the the plug due to the fact that the factory wires at the alternator are just brittle and break easily from years of heat. The more I dig into cleaning up the wiring in the engine bay I’m really not liking my tubular exhaust manifold. It puts the turbo and wastegate into such a tight space over basically on top of the alternator and power steering pump. I’ll have to worry about it later down the line due to funds and some more important things in the meantime. I’m hoping to try and start the car tomorrow. Considering I was driving it before the alternator died I’m thinking it should start up pretty easily; or so that’s best case scenario. I’ve got a brand new set of Falken Azenis 17” factory size tires ready to mount and start driving and tuning. Fingers crossed

I decided to get rid of the MAF Translator and 3” GM sensor in order to run the stock MAF sensor and FP intake pipe. In doing that I had to build a new IC pipe setup and decided to go with the black pipe. It’s only a $100 cheap set but it’s 2.5” pipe with T-clamps on each connection. I’m fixing to buy a larger IC this month but went ahead and used the 27*7*2.5 that I already had. I still have plenty pipe left if I were to not find an IC close to 27”. I’ve got some play in the setup now if I needed to adjust it. Next it’s time to run the new vacuum lines eliminating all the useless factory sensors etc tomorrow and try to start the car for the first time since the alternator fried. I’ve bought everything that may or may not have fried electrically including the coils and ECU. I haven’t bought the transistor but hopefully it’s fine. My luck that’ll be the only thing that is bad.:banghead: Update tomorrow

Installed the new black IC piping and BOV and only need to rerun and eliminate vacuum lines. May have to sell for medical expenses and I pray that the scare fixes itself
