Hello, I'm new to the forums and need some assistance with this issue. Yes, I did a I search and found this, although my problem is slightly different.

The smoke seems to only come out in a fair amount of quantity when the engine is at operating temperature. It's more of an issue when its a hot day. Now the smoke only comes out when about 3-5 minutes of idling occurs (at operating temp) and does a nice little cloud when I put her in gear and start driving again. After that, no smoke. The car runs fine and I never experience lack of power or overheating. Made a 100 mile drive both ways about a week ago and didn't get the smoke once while on the freeway or for the whole trip as a matter of fact. It seems to only come out while idling. I thought it was a HG leak but I'm not completely sure now. Any suggestions, I plan to check on the thermostat, rad cap, and lower coolant hoses later today. I do live in Cali, so throughout the summer I've been running straight water as my coolant. Never had any issues doing this with my past cars and yes, I always switch back to a proper coolant ratio as the weather approaches winter. Any help is greatly appreciated. Just a short list of what I've done to the car and the condition it was when I bought it, even though I doubt any of this has to do with it.
'97 Eclipse GST (almost fully stock, expect intake and exhaust)
191k miles on original engine, 160ish when I bought it a year and a half ago
Some done by me and some by the previous owners. The car only has only had 2 previous owners and me being the 3rd, this car hasn't seen a shop in while since we all get our hands dirty with our own cars.
- New brakes rotors and calipers
-New clutch and flywheel
-Timing belt looks fairly new
-New front axle
-Regular oil changes
-Coolant flush and refill (yes I burped the system)
