And when you need a warranty replacement, you'll pay return shipping! Good luck on Taiwan Turbo Roulette. May the odds be ever be in your favor.

Knock off 16gs have been on ebay for a long time now and have been cheaper than 300 shipped.

If you reach out to them for a return at all, you'll get ignored, play the 20 questions game, or be told to kick rocks. Rarely ever do they say, yeah send it back, no problem!

If you want to return an item within ebay's allocated timeframe - and file through them - they will provide you with a first class return label good for up to 1lb [aka a joke], but when you complain that label isn't sufficient the seller is required to provide a shipping label back or risk losing all the money with zero return. The ball has been in the buyer's favor on there for a couple years now.

I fell for this when I first started working on my gsx. I replaced a 1g 14b with a knock off 16g. Not only was it a huge loss in power, the blades eventually started hitting the inside of the compressor cover. This shot metal shavings all throughout my charge pipes and intercooler (sounded like a buzz saw!). Do not waste your money - Are they going to give you a 2 year warranty on your engine as well?

If you do buy it make sure the oil feed off the head is restricted i blew up my rebuilt mitsubishi 14b because of the ebay oil feeds (I didn't look at it when I put it on and the holes were not restricted ) I now have a minty oem 16g

China-bay turbos are not worth your time or money, post a want ad on here and get a real MHI turbo, however I will say if your looking for a cheep replacement exhaust housing for your MHI turbo rebuild, you can use the knock off exhaust housings, I did this when I rebuilt my 14b I used a 7cm exhaust housing from an Ebay 16g it overall was a nice mod I felt the boost come on a little stronger, you might have had to shim the waste-gate with washers.

Before I knew many knock off turbo factories in Mainland China and Taiwan. They were selling unbelievably cheap even 10 times cheaper than buying on eBay. IIRC what @motomattx said $20 is actually close. I don't know the latest china turbo's quality but at that time most of products were just junk. They were even copying knock off turbos then selling cheaper. I had some samples from those factories and so far I found, flatback cartridge with a superback compressor wheel with machining compressor housing, some even don't spin at idle, thrust bearing doesn't have oil passage, flapper doesn't close perfectly because of mismatched actuator rod length etc etc..
I saw some eBay shops impersonate Japanese. They put a Japan or some japanese city name with their shop name and they state item location as in Japan. If you see like that just stay away from them. Because many of them are not. In Japan there still are some real turbo shops that have been modifying MHI turbos since late 80s/early 90s but they don't sell on eBay.

Sure, a couple guys here and there are running fast times, but the majority of these things blow up. I'd rather be the guy who has a $1000 turbo with no worries about my turbo blowing up my head, than a 5%er who saved a couple hundred bucks and got one to work.

I got a buddies car into 11s on a ebay 16g. Would I do it again? Hell no. He probably would have run faster times on a genuine MHI unit. The guy didn't care about his car obviously....and it ended up shitting the bed soon after. I just drove it to his goal LOL Go MHI or don't go at all.

No my original post was not a joke. There is quite a bit of YouTube drag races using china turbos and making good power. My turbo is fine and I have a spare I was just surprised how cheap it was and how complete. I see just a oil drain pipe retail for 90 bucks on ebay alone.

Most people running them are using them at low boost levels. We played with some ebay ones back in the day and never had one last very long at all with any real boost out of it. Heck I had a brand new GSP 35R I sold to Justin for cheap just so he could use the turbine housing.
