Hey DSMTuners,

Been a member for awhile now, but absent for years, I have owned about 12 DSM over the years and I just can never shake the bug of wanting one. I am in Roseville in Northern California.

Just recently got back into a DSM, bought a 98 TSI AWD to mess around with and have some fun. Unfortunately after doing a compression test found low compression and the wet test raised it drastically, took it to a shop to do a leak down test and they confirmed it was leaking out of the bottom end, I assumed it was rings at this point, so I tore into it.

This is the furthest i have been into a DSM, so doing my research and trying to be a thorough as possible before i put it back together. The block is going to a machine shop tomorrow and will be reassembling once I get it back. Hopefully have some updates shortly.

Maybe you can learn a lot from this one. Feel free to make a DSM Profile for it and update that build thread so we can see what you're doing.
