2G Oil/Vacuum lines

I recently got a "

MITSUBISHI" valve cover and had it powdercoated. Before putting it on I'd like to clean the engine bay and de-grease everything to make it look a little better and while doing so replacing any oil lines or vacuum lines, leaky or not, just to be on the safe side. Does anyone have any recommendations on this, perhaps a suggestion for a kit or what I can use as suitable replacements? Searching "oil line kit" brings up a lot for turbo install kits but nothing like a complete kit. Would also like to know if the VC gasket kit that come with the aluminum half moon goes in just like the rubber one, I assume it does :idontknow:

Just make sure your lines are oil-safe and not "heater hose". You can use the half moon but be sure to use some grey sealant where the Factory Service Manual recommends.

I guess depends which ones your trying to replace they make all the hoses or u can get silicone hoses probably for it as for oil lines are u referring to the breather hose on the valve cover or the hose for the pvc

I mean I'd like to replace as many as I can reach in the driveway Haha nothing specific but I figured if I was trying to clean the engine bay then might as well prevent any possible leaks that could re-dirty things.

and it looks like it should be all the fluid lines too. That wait from China is gonna suck though.. Found a kit on amazon that also includes red vacuum hose but says only 3 ply compared to the 4 ply ebay kit and no vacuum line. Think that extra ply would be worth it? Looks like they're both coming from China either way.

Edit: I got red Mishimoto coolant hoses like last year so if I get a set that includes those they'd go right back up for sale on here which I don't mind, but I don't need them.

Neither of these kits list them as being "oil-safe" but I suppose silicone would be. The kits are listed to include cooling and heater hoses, I assume this is only for the sake of fitment though. What do you think?

Yea I think the rolls would prob be good vacuum lines not sure on the oil part but u could always use some trans cooler hose for oil lines can get at any local Napa or AutoZone

I did find a nice article in the google results someone had posted about using silicone for fuel and oil lines. Apparently it's a big "no no" because the oil/fuel can break down the silicone and end up seeping through unless it's a special kind of coated or treated inner layer which these probably aren't. :aha:

You think just using suitable rubber hose would still be ok if it isn't molded to shape like the factory lines? I wouldn't want them rubbing or resting on the something that could damage them but I guess if they're trimmed properly they should be fine or maybe even some zip ties to hold them in place.

Yea would deff not use for fuel cause that's likes to eat stuff up and it's pressurized so that be a big no no but I mean coolant and vacuum u should be ok for any serious oil lines like turbo lines I'd deff go stainless, braided or something along those lines that can hold pressure

It would be temporary to a degree as I'd like to upgrade the turbo at some point so SS lines would be a little more then I'd like to do right now. But I do agree with you on all that %100.

Went to autozone to get some oil and a filter and asked about oil line and they basically just showed me different sizes the had on spools of rubber woven line. Would anyone happen to know the size off hand? I can't really take a line off and drive the car to them to size it up haha

I'm about to drain my oil and looking carefully at the oil/coolant lines, these are my main suspects. So I don't have to drain the coolant as well, can some one please verify these are in fact all oil lines? Looking at the manual still makes it a bit difficult, the turbo looks like it has 2 coolant and 1 oil and the oil comes off the bottom. The other big suspect I'm not sure where it goes to but it's on the right side of the engine that runs by the alternator.

First 2 pics are me pointing at what I think is the oil line for the turbo, third one is the unknown line.

Looks like to the back of the oil pump? It runs kind of over the filter and just behind it. Tight spaces making it hard to take pics but it's the hose that's wet in the first and has the clamp in the second.

That's an oil cooler, not a pump. There's 3 of those hoses that leak coolant, not oil. STM's website is below and have more OEM parts if you wish to replace other things..

And Your problem is coming from above. Could be valve cover, power steering pump, oil filter housing and even the oil pan.

Spray some engine degreaser and cover the alternator. Spray it down with a hose or pressure washer. Engine off of course

I did in fact verify they were coolant lines yesterday, I had to take a better look as the lines going to the oil cooler. It's definitely coolant that's leaking from those suspected lines too. The oil pan needs to be done and the slave cylinder is leaking hence some of the other fluid, and the VC has been done once but I have another waiting to go on. I'll be de greasing the engine before that but I know for a fact those lines are weeping so might as well take care of it now.
