Well.......after how many months now????
I have oil pressure, I primed the new engine by pulling the fuel pump relay and then rolling the motor over several times with the starter without any sparkplugs in it. After the 3rd starter roll, the oil light went out and my digital oil pressure guage said "3", so I am primed. I have to get over my old man back syndrome and then put the plugs in, wire up the Arc2 box positive and negative and plug the fuel pump back in and I should be ready for.............
FIRST START.......
Everyone hold your breath and say a prayer to the DSM gods for me.
More very soon I hope!!!
Thanks for following along for so long!
Marty

Thank you @ThunderChild. You and my other followers have been an inspiration! :thumb:

Damn Wilson family is at it again. So is the manual car being transplanted to the auto now? Better lean out that car old man and let it get mean!

Yep, I stole the cams/gears and the radiator/fan setup but have bigger cams for the stick car (Kelford 272s). I finally got the 2g head back from the machine shop but I am not happy with the RA finish so I need to take out the valves and take the bare head to another shop for a good finish then put the head back together and I should be about ready to put that car back together so I can pick my poison....Red stick car or Blue auto car :p

Well I drove the ole girl and thru all the mods all at once, so far things are good. No leaks, good oil pressure sounds good and has all 4 gears. I was worried about the kiggly front clutch change but it was just nerve racking not that hard.
She had a compressor cover boost leak so I had to tear some stuff back down and reinstall it all. I am hoping to still have a leakless 4g63 (lets all cross our fingers).
Just had to update.
I did get a log and the cooling system seemed very sufficient so far also.
STAY TUNED :)
Marty

Tuning and RETUNING. But able to drive the car normal, at least. :thumb:
A/F's are too lean so more global adjustments are coming each night that I can. Fun driving around with no hood to display all the $$$ and that thing that is going phewwwwww in a whirl called a HX40. :)
Made heads turn and 1 kid stop me as he could hear the turbo coming thru town. Thats a good feeling again for this old man!
Oil pressure is 72 cold start fast idle and hit full pressure,19 hot slow idle. Feel that is fine for the specs on the motor. Almost time for the oil change from break in 10w40 to 20w50 and more ZZDP!
Stay "tuned"....and thanks for following!!!

Which car Vegas? We have "a few".
Collecting another 1ga this weekend. Supposed to run but needs a timing belt job so its priced right now!
My oldest had his 95 Talon for sale for awhile, the 11.5 off the trailer car but idk if it still for sale.

Changed the breakin oil out and put 20W50 with ZZDP additive and it all looks good. About 10 psi more on the heavier oil.
80 cold, 25 hot. I'm good with that.
Switching to E85 after this final tank of dino fuel while putting good highway breakin miles on her 60 miles a day for a week to work. Just thought I'd update! :thumb:
Thanks for following along.

You have multiple sons? Lot DSMers in the family.

Car looks great! Just went through the build, good stuff. Planning on changing the IM at some point?

Yep Vegas, I have a 26 year old with the 2g's and my 21 year old with a 1g. Both had dad built 86 Z/28s for their high school graduation gifts too. :)
I would like to have a performance IM but haven't found the right "deal" yet, but it will come in time. The stocker is doing great at pulling QUICKLY up to 8k and wants to keep going, but I have the limiter set there. I'm am sure she can sing to 9k.
So far, she drives super to work, and last night I put an exhaust cutout on it so I can listen to the stereo, if I want. I usually like the sound of the TURBO tho. :thumb:
Thank you all for following along, I want this to be a good long lasting car so I am "trying" not to beat on her too hard, but boy when the 40 lights, she is all about moving out!!!

I don't think I have any video yet, but I will look.......just for you :sneaky: :thumb: :p
When Trevor, the 21 yr old, rides with me, we usually get some video before the drive is done.
Let me look......:)
Last night I took her down a mile or so and turned around, testing the cutout and I got into 1st, went to 7986rpm, hit 2nd, squirmed around a bit turning all 4 over and then motored up to over 100mph in about 3 blocks or so. I looked at the log and hell, I wasn't even in it 100%....dam me.

Not much yet but some tuning pulls @Vegas smith ..........

And a night short pull, but she was wanting to rev but I had the limiter at 8k

We will be doing more so I'll try to get Trevor to capture more the next time I do some pulls. Driving to work for miles right now. Very happy just to drive her!

Don't try and pull the wool over my eyes old man. I want the day's newspaper in view as well as your current driver's license to prove that's your video.

^^^^ This I LOVE (and live for) :nono: :p
PM sent

haha she's moving nice. Unless I missed it which in that case I apologize, but how much boost are you at now?

...and in regards to the IM, I remember a while ago in my buddies GT35R 1G we switched out the stock IM for a JMF Race and OMG! It was a damn freight train up top hahaha. So much more power. The powerband was drastically better.
