Get this, fix & maintenance, & sell your 420A RS. Don't why to started with asking about swaps.
17, just for the 4g63t engine. Not a whole car. Same with the tsi, just the subframe axles, hubs, drivetrain, awd componants, cutting out the connection points from the frame, not the whole car, but it’s basically like 200usd for a complete awd setup with suspension componants. If I could find. A gst that would be viable too I guess. But none in my area.

I really didn't want to take my time to reply to this thread at all. But I do just have to ask you straight up.

Simply, why do you want to AWD swap your RS?

Well it’s more that I wanted to know specific details as to how it would be done. If it could be done. Surfing around these forums I’ve seen this topic brought up a few times, and the verdict is usually “ don’t bother, sell it, and btw let’s get into an argument about which trim level is best and flame about 420a, etc.” I thought; but what if someone just happened to already have the parts laying around or somebody had a bunch of money burning a hole and wanted to attempt it despite its lack of cost effectiveness, basically, even though I already get that it’s a huge amount of work, maybe someone would attempt it anyways if they could refer to a resource that said “hey this isn’t the most cost effective way, but it can be done, so this is how it’s done. Build at your own peril. I wasn’t really planning to do it, so much as try to find out what work and fab would need to happen in order to make it work. The idea in my position is, I have the rs car, I have the opportunity to have a talon drivetrain, why not find out if it’s possible, and if so, start making a blueprint of the fab work and looking for the rest of the stuff for the setup. Even if not practical, it would be a challenging build that if successful might be expensive, but could still be worthwhile, if the build could be completed within the cost of buying a gsx, or even within a couple thousand of that, you’d still end up with an awd build setup that you could work off of and build up from there. If you knew what you were getting into, and felt confident that you could finish it, why not do it? Finishing it would be cool bragging rights if nothing else.

I have a 420a myself, so I'm in no way trying to "flame" it. I'm just curious why you would want and AWD 420a. The only gains you get from AWD is traction and handling. Instead you could get strut/sway bars and a decent set of tires and be done with it. That's assuming you even need that for your mild setup.

I wasn’t referring to you or anyone else in this thread when I say that. Traction handling, bit more hp, honestly I’m not sold on doing it, I just think it would be cool to know what the process of doing it would be and what it would take to do it because I just think it would be cool to see it be done, and I also think it would be badass to have an eclipse Frankenstein’s with an EVO. Its not a set plan for the car in any way, I just figured it might be a fun challenge to attempt if it was even possible, since the rs is basically something I picked up just as a project car to see how far I could take it, and how much I knowledge I could glean from that, so I thought I would ask some questions I haven’t been able to find the answers to elsewhere. Even if I don’t go ahead with it and I just bring the 420a to stock, I might still pickup the talon setup, then if I can answer all of the questions and decide to try to go ahead, I can. Or if a gst pops up in my area, I could go that route aswell.

Your questions are so open ended and processes very very vague. Here is the thing. You aren't going to find a how to on doing this. You will have to install the following besides the obvious engine, trans, transfer case and rearend. You will need the entire rear subframe and gas tank. You will need to custom fabricate the mounting of everything up front. motor mounts, tranny mounts etc. Axles will be custom unless you don't do an evo motor and you use a DSM motor etc. You will need a wiring harness and some sort of control. Whether you go custom or stock is up to you but it all has to routed, installed and tested to work. There are other location change items like hydraulic lines for clutch, battery location, all custom intercooler plumbing, gauges or cluster as appropriate, shifter and cables and those will be custom if you go evo. Even if you go DSM stuff there is hundreds of hours of labor involved at the end of which you could say I've basically built something that already existed. Even just to learn I'm going to say not worth it. If you want to learn, and I've done ALL of this and more, then just work on what you have. If you truly want a faster, AWD car then get one. Do not build one. If you're still dead set on doing this then I applaud you. I'm very blunt about this because I've heard this discussion SOOOO many times over the years. Every time, even if the owner gets far enough to remove the old drivetrain etc., the project gets scrapped. Very few people have the skill, resources and knowledge to pull off what you're suggesting. If you want to fabricate stuff start smaller than this. Fab up your own exhaust, intake pipes etc. Learning is great and I encourge people to learn continuously. I've just seen the writing on the way so many many times before. You have to start somewhere but learning how to cliff dive before jumping off the high dive is simply a poor idea.

I’m trying to make one, not find one. Not dead set, but I really appreciate all of the valuable info I’m getting here! To be clear, I’m not in a rush or adamant to make it happen, I may or may not attempt it. I may in fact find a gst and do it to that instead. I just started helping a guy with a teardown on a TSI, going to help him make his spyder awd, from a gs. he’s giving me some parts, I’m helping him with his build in exchange for parts and experience. I’m already going to spend a lot of hours in this realm without even touching my own car, If that says anything of my willingness to commit time to make sure I can do it right. He hasn’t pulled a motor before, so will be a learning experience for both. I’m a slow roll type of person, and the rs isn’t my daily, so if I did go for it, I could afford to have it on stands for a long time while I chipped away at it. I know it would take months of dedicated building to complete the project. And I haven’t discounted the warnings. But I want to know if I do decide to try to undertake it, that I will have a good idea of what I’m doing and need to do.
