When I dropped the car off last night I heard a whine coming from my trans. It might of been my transfer gear whine, I plan on confirming tues. Has anyone else had issues with their converter?

Wow. LOL. Thumbs down. What the f***.
I’ve always wanted a Sinister 9.5” for something just s little better than stock and considered Sinister one of the best.

It’s always such a shame to see a company who has something so good going, but due to expansion and all the other work that starts funneling in with the notoriety —> the good thing comes to an end.

What surprises me here though is while he said he’d like to look at it, possibly. It’s clear there’s not much interest and then recommends another company’s product. Lol. Wild.

Damn that sucks.... now we know who not to buy our converters from LOL. I personally run an IPT converter and haven't had any problems yet. The only way to find out is to drop the tranny and inspect it. I had a problem once with my tranny and it ended up being my pump.

What was it doing?

I've had a sprag fail in mine... twice. To be fair I'm almost positive it was a pump issue. Swapped the pump and converter and never had another failure in the same trans.

I had my sinister fail in under 3,000 street miles and he gave some BS excuse like this. I sent it back and he said the sprag failed as they are prone to doing in high HP cars. I decided to go with a spragless IPT and haven't turned back since.

Buy an IPT or Bradco, call it good.

If your car whines while in park/neutral, it's your pump. If the whine is only there when the car is in gear, it's the converter.

I wouldn't count on Bradco either....
I sent my converter in to be gone through and be clean/inspected, about a month after he told me it would be done he said he had it finished, then finally shipped it out 2 weeks later. After receiving it back, I went to install it in the transmission and it would not even seat all the way. After taking numerous measurements and texts back and forth he asked me to send it back in to him. Well.... that was almost 3 months ago and the responses have stopped after numerous times of trying to contact him. Shame bc I was actually thinking of ordering a sinister converter myself..

This post was meant to be a quest for answers , im not trying to shit on anyone or this product. Mike has been nothing but good to me.

It just kept whining at first I thought it was the converter and shipped it back for inspection since it was still under warranty. Once confirmed the converter was still basically new from the shop I decided to take apart the transmission and when I opened the pump I saw grind marks and some shavings. So I replaced the pump, I put it back together and never heard the whining noise again.

So in your case it was whining in park as well as I’m drive? From all the reading I’ve done a bad pump will show it’s face in park, neutral , reverse and drive. If it stop in park the pump should be fine. From what I’ve read anyway

Here’s the pump boys.... you tell me
