Man there is just so much missinformation out there. Literally 9/10 times I search for something all the posts are guys who have no clue, never owned one, or never even tried it speaking up the loudest. It's really driven me away as why waste the keystrokes when it will just get drowned in all the noise. Idk if it's as bad as it used to be, but it was always guys with a ton of clout that were guilty too.
Even this thread has a bunch of bad info. *Hint, if you haven't bought a ppg/par/liberty, used one, built one, built a trans for money, or even manufactured a part, you should probably edit your post.
Anyway, I put a ppg in my car this year, and its honestly perfectly streetable, IF you can drive. Yes it can be a pita, yes it makes noise, but it's not that bad. I drove mine in Chicago traffic no prob. You just have to think ahead and tell it what to do. No second guessing. I had a liberty before it, and it was the same. The wear I saw on the liberty was pretty minor after a lot of street miles. I suspect the ppg will be similar. I'll have it apart this winter for inspection.
My biggest complaint about the ppg is the super tall first gear. It's hard on the clutch.
Ppg/par can do anything. Even liberty or gforce can do it. We just gotta get 50people with $5k to spend together.
As for stock shit and getting sliders made, imho we should work on a 2g type 3/4 hub/slider. Lots more of those gears around, and the bigger synchro.
