Sup everyone

I installed a new valve cover and gasket about a year ago because I tightened my bolts to much and broke my last cover, it was going fine until I rebuilt my turbo. When I installed i tested my pvc and all was well.

The 20g spools and boosts much better than it used to but now my valve cover is leaking.

I tightened the bolts a little tighter but I don't want to over tighten and break another cover.

Is this a situation where I need a catch can or extra pvc, or is it simply a valve cover gasket issue?

where did you use rtv? anywhere besides just the cam cap joints and half moon?
perhaps you have a scratch or gouge in the head surface that doesnt promote a good seal?

Seeing as how it has lasted a long while it very well could just be the gasket just isnt doing its job anymore. If you think it might be the PCV I would take it out and test it by setting your compressor to what psi you are running and trying to blow through it. The only reason I say that is because I cant blow through my PCV but when i pressurize my system (checking for vacuum leaks) my PCV still leaks. I cleaned it and you can hear it rattle when you shake it, it just cant hold back pressure.

If your PCV valve checks out then the last thing would be to get a new gasket.

If it's not oem gasket, change to oem. I went through two brand new valve cover gaskets (one was top line and the other was no name that someone gave me). For me, both gaskets leaked right away until I switched to oem.

I can support that view. I am running a Mahle branded one and, while it seals just fine, it had to be stretched by the CAS between the two bolt holes near it. Would not take much for a different manufacturing inaccuracy to let oil by.

I fixed this, gasket was only a year old so I just torqued the bolts down a half turn more.

I guess the increased flow from rebuilding the turbo pushed passed my previous torque.
