I’ll see if I can get a small wire wheel in there. Thanks, IUGrad!!

I would say sand blast since its in the corner. A wire wheel might be hard to get to and you can get a portable sand blaster from Harbor Freight for like 30 or so dollars. Then you have to get a medium which it says what it is good for on the bags. I think walnut shells is good for rust though.

A wire wheel might work but it depends on the angle of how well it works. You can also wire brush it and then get a rust reformer for what you cant get too. There is some different ones out there, some like the aerosol cans and some like the the full strength stuff. If you remove most of the rust the Rust-oleum Rust Reformer will work just fine. Then prime over that and then paint.

Probably, a wire wheel and a rust reformer will probably cost you 10-15 dollars at most depending on how much the wire wheel is. I would probably go the wire wheel and rust reformer which is I think 6 bucks a can. 2-3 coats after you wire wheel and clean the area usually people use acetone or the highest alcohol% you can find because it leaves no residue behind.

If you were going to be doing other projects then a portable sand blaster would be a good investment. I have one and it works great though you need to wear long sleeves, gloves and a face shield because that stuff goes everywhere. The medium is where the cost is with sand blasting.

Thats how I am with mine at the moment. Just trying to do a clean build, but one thing I dont like is rust. A little bit of time, getting a paint the same color as the car or in my case all new fresh paint goes a long way.

Im sure you will be fine though.

I was amazed at how well my bay cleaned up with the crappy cleaning job I did with some soapy hot water and let to dry.

Looks good. I got my spark plugs changed today before it got so hot to melt gold. Just have to wait on the fuel injector insulators to get here... whenever that is.

Thanks man!! Yours will be running before mine. Haven’t driven her in 2 weeks and I miss her already. Lol

2 weeks? Thats it? Ive been out for a few months at this point trying to pinpoint leaks and making sure everything is dialed in, rebuilding the throttle body and of course work. There were a lot of leaks, small leaks but enough to contribute to making trying to get it to idle properly an absolute nightmare.

Once the insulators come in another pressure test is in order and then try again for setting the idle.

looks like you got it pretty good

If theres a next time you could wrap a piece of whatever grit paper your working with around a bondo spreader and get busy, to get into tight joints like you where dealing with

theres a few pneumatic tools out there to make such things a bit faster/easier too. Might not be worth the cost unless you do it alot though.

I only have these things because I wasted 10+ years as a collision repair tech before I wised up

Thanks evl!! I tried by hand to get in the corner but I don’t have patience for that. Haha
