I have the original drivetrain from my '92 Laser AWD, left over after a JDM swap. The engine was repeatedly jumping time, had around 130k on it, the transmission was very wishy washy, the transfer case is not the original and howls like a banshee. The turbo should be fine. I don't know if I should try to keep this collection or let it go on to the yard. I am having a difficult time trying to figure out how to keep it stored.

Yeah if you can't store it reach out to any local DSMers, I'm hoarding 1g parts up in NY with a few other guys.. You should do the same, or at the very least give it to someone who can hang on to all that stuff.

It is difficult for me to store it in a dry place. I have one shed I could put it in but I will have to keep an eye on the roof. If someone close by would come for it I would not be hard to deal with.

I'm not close but alot closer than most. If I can get my truck to make it that far, I'd come and get it just to keep around like the others have said. Try to save it because "DSM Live's Matter"!!!

It's original and never modified. I think maybe I will put it in the best place I have available and try to protect it.

Save it bro, please. Don't junk it.

Well, here we are, two years later, and I am about to have to move that 1G turbo drivetrain again. This time it is getting more difficult to figure out where to put it. If someone needs it I will assist in loading it up.

Was your Laser a stick or auto car, I am still looking at the mileage and hours to get to you and it is over 5 one way. Still thinking about it though!

Thank you goes out to @wgmiller for letting me save the drivetrain!
Rescued it last Saturday, Aug 17th. Quite a long drive, 6+ hours one way but RESCUED!
Cost was about $125 in gas and food.
After I got her home, I put some of his parts from a bucket onto the motor and slapped a used timing belt on her and had her timed by hand, with just a breaker bar and a 17mm in about 10 minutes! It turns over freely and I have confirmed that it has bent valves but who could say no to FREE???
THANKS AGAIN @wgmiller, you are one heck of a good guy and what a background of info on his Gold Edition RS Laser! Nice my friend!

I couldn't just leave it not tensioned right, even though I have to tear it down! :thumb:

You're welcome. What I wanted to see was for someone with the care, skills, and imagination to do something with it. It is in a good place.

It has a great home now Gene! Many, many thanks. Give that RS Laser some TLC amd she will be getting you around for a good long time!
