There is no safe tune. You are manipulating the air flow signal to lie to the computer that you have more or less fuel than you do. SKIP THIS BS and buy link. There is a reason nobody uses it anymore, its outdated and grossly inferior.

I had it on my 2g many moons ago and worked fine w 660 injectors on stock maf at 25psi. But Istdwa is right. Definitely a dinosaur. I have new harness for it laying. Let me know if you want it. It’s free just pay for shipping.

From the controller to the ecu. IIRC it’s the first one they came out with, square shape.

*edit rectangular not square

The AFC is going to allow you to alter your MAF curve at different rpm break points, tuning software dials in the curve in a similar manner with quite a number of other options to more effectively tune the engine.
At the end of the day the amount of airflow the ecm determines is filling the cylinder is how it determines how much fuel to apply.
The AFC works by allowing you to rescale the MAF curve effectively allowing you to increase or decrease airflow measured so the ECM delivers the proper amount of fuel, more air more fuel, less air less fuel.
You would really need a wideband O2 to dial it in to get your AFR where you want it as well as logging software of some sort to have an idea where your fuel trims are.
During closed loop the ecm is always going to trim the fuel for stoich, so if your LTFT's are within say 5% the fueling isn't too far off and is ok.
If your LTFT's are say 12% you would want to increase the airflow with the AFC so the ecm sees a higher airflow value and adds more fuel.

In a nutshell there is no basic tune for an AFC, you use the AFC to alter the MAF curve so the ECM will deliver the proper amount of fuel.
This would be determined by looking at your fuel trims and WOT afr, adjusted as needed to get things in the ballpark of where they need to be.

Gotcha.. i did just install a new 02 sensor and my 02 gauge works.. and i have a data logger but i need to find a DOS computer.. LOL or just update when i have some money. Im just trying to get it running decent as it is basicly a full build with less then a 1000 miles .
