Can someone tell me the exact part number for the oil filter that sat on my 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS-T when it rolled out of the factory in Illinois?

I am using an online parts catalog by VIN.
I also check two other online catalogs by VIN as I have noticed there are small inconsistencies between them.
Two of them show six different part numbers plus replacement part numbers.
The third one shows seven different part numbers plus replacement part numbers.

My car was imported from the United States.
The filter that is currently there needs to be replaced.
The part number appears to be MD322508 from what I can see.
That is certainly not the original filter as the catalogs tell me this is for "Europe use only".

I understand that all of the filters are compatible.
That is not the question however.
I know for a fact that the filters differ in design and size.
This affects the efficiency and longevity.
One filter is about three times longer than the other.
I simply want to know the exact part number of the oil filter that originally was on my car.

Any help would be appreciated.

I am confused.
What are you trying to tell me with that list?

Those MD part numbers are exactly what are showing up when I look in the catalogs by using the VIN on my car.
In addition, you have some MZ numbers on your list that are unknown to me.
I understand why you are getting other information than me as I can see the model is shown as D32A.

There is obviously a misunderstanding here.
I am not asking for compatible part numbers as I already have this information.

The only thing I know for sure is that it was definitely not MD322508.

I dont think that anyone will have that information, part numbers have been obsoleted and superseded in the last 20 years.

You might be right about that.

First I thought the online catalogs were not working properly even when using the VIN.
Now I realize maybe no database is more specific when it comes to the oil filters.

I guess only Mitsubishi knows.

Well we'd need your VIN number and date/place of manufacture. And even then Mitsubishi's ASA database may show multiple numbers anyway due to they were all compatible and they probably used multiple vendors on the line every day for that part since it's not critical. But here's the Mitsubishi North America ASA listing for the Eclipse Spyder (model D38A):
