Hello fellow DSMers.

I'm writing to ask for your help on something I didn't find yet (maybe looking for the wrong key words) even writing head bolts, doesn't appear anything else than posts related to 7 bolt or 6 bolt heads.

So what is my issue? Well I'm almost able to close my 6 bolt engine to be mounted in my 2g. Been waiting for this for a year and a half and a minor issue just created a big hold up.
In order to close the engine I purchased new head bolts from an online autoparts shop. Been buying stuff from them for a good time now and the always sent everything right.
This time was no different, everything came acording to specs, my problem is that the head bolts that are in spec for my engine are 20 mm longer then the bolts I took out of the same engine when I opened it.

Now, I don't know where I can go get new bolts that actually fit my engine. It's a 6 bolt block with respective 6 bolt head. The bolts are M12 and the only bolts that online auto parts have are M12s 104mm long (which is obviously too long since the ones that were in the engine before are M12s 78mm long).

Any feedback is good, I hope to hear from you guys to finnaly be able to close it and hopefully have the car running at the end of august. Thank you.

PS: Photo of the size difference of the bolts.

How about these?
https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...harged,1103094,engine,cylinder+head+bolt,5308
They are one of our forum Vendors. I have never bought head bolts from them but most of us go with head studs if we pull the bolts.
I'd definitely give RockAuto a try and use discount code 588FE95F7DCB5D for 5% off.
Marty

Edit: I don't like any of those, they are allen head and I wouldn't want them. I would want hex head bolts.
Post up a WTB ad in the classifieds and I bet we have plenty of members with a used good set.

They have clearly just sent you the wrong parts. Plain and simple.

I agree, the sent the wrong set, maybe for a later model or sohc 6bolt maybe. Go for ARPs or some OEM bolts.

If you need a set of BNIB head studs for a 6 bolt, lmk, I have some I've squirreled away, but would be willing to let loose. Pm me.

Thank you for all the responses guys. The site from the store must be with some wrong specs then.
At least got some good feedback on good parts and for that I’m really grateful. Will be sending some private messages soon.
Just want one last opinion (if there’s a thread on this be sure to link it and I’ll read on it): how much more worth is having studs? Are they reusable or need to get new every time the engine is opened? If in the future I will open the engine to do some performance upgrades is it worth form me in terms of money to buy studs instead of bolts?

If thats the case, he probably ordered head bolts for a 420A since its NT.

Well as silvreclips said mine is the NT 4g63 version. And on the parts casing is written “4g63; 4g63t”. That’s why I assume they have just the specs wrong on their side.

And if I got it right: if I put a turbo on it, go studs. If not go OEM bolts. Correct?

Studs are very cheap insurance, I have bought a few sets used from our classifieds and never worried about them, plus they are reusable hardware.

I’m considering studs and I’m going through classifieds looking for something that I can reach in terms of price right now.
But concerning those RockAuto bolts that 1990TSIAWDTALON linked, how can I contact the seller to make sure they can send it to Portugal and how the payments work?
I’m completely unfamiliar with that website in particular.
