I have a 93 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 that has a rattle in the top end at idle. Seems to smooth out when the idle goes up around 3 grand. Anyone else run into this before? I believe the valves are not adjustable. Just don't wanna throw parts at it if not needed.

Are your 1g lifters ticking? Notorious for them. How is your oil pressure, or do you only have a stock gauge?

I only have a stock gauge and it seems to be fine. I just got the car not too long ago and previous owner said they put a new head on it. Im wondering if they didn't bleed them right or if it may be clogged. I was told to try running a quart of ATF through the motor to see if that will clear anything but for some reason the sound of running tranny fluid in my motor don't sound like a good idea. What do you think about it?

Pulled everything apart and found out the timing is off about a half of tooth. Manual says about 5 hours to redue the timing.

That probably isn't helping anything. I would bleed the lifters properly while you're fixing that as well.
5 hours for someone that's never done it sounds right, could be longer if it's your first time.

Yea unfortunately I don't know anyone here in the Madison Wisconsin area that's willing to help me do the timing so I gotta wing it on my own. Just hope it goes well.
