Just to confirm. You aren't pushing against the face of the pulley are you? You have to thread the crank bolt back in and push on that. I normally put something like a small rod on the bolt holes first so I'm not pushing to hard on the crank threads

My original post was regarding a 4G64 engine and Harmonic Damper. The 420a crank pulley and the 4G64 pulleys are very different. I would suggest creating a fresh thread so you can get proper assistance with your particular application.

I was pushing against the crank bolt with a washer as to not thread the bolt all the way back in

There has to be a gap between the the flange on the crank bolt and the pulley. If you put a washer between the bolt and pulley and tightened it down the pulley can no longer come off. I leave about 1/4in gap between the bolt and face of the pulley and when that gap closes up I back the bolt out some more. But like I said, you will be pushing on the threads in the crank, so I use a small piece of rod I put in the crank hole before the bolt and bottom the bolt out on that to keep from messing up the threads
