I've been looking at a Morose brand oil pan for my build for a long time. Found a thread on here from back in 2004 that didn't have a lot of good things to say about it though. I'm wondering if anybody on here has used one more recently and can tell me if Moroso has fixed the issues from the past or if it's still an issue part? Thanks in advance

@gsxitement has one and recently use it, maybe he can jump in and assist you

I've been using one for a long time, and have no issues with it. Definitely more sump capacity and the baffles keep the pickup submerged. There are clearance issues with a 2.4 crankshaft, but that can be remedied with some persuasion.

I just installed one. The clearance issue with the main studs is still an issue. If you have a stroker motor, the crank will smack the pan. Easily repaired with a hammer.

I installed mine. Think it was last year. I had zero issues installing it other then my own mistakes.
It comes preset up for stock oil drain. But Extremepsi sells a 10an fitting that is a bolt on affair too make it 10an compatable.

I needed a 12an as I run a holet turbo. Which needed to be welded on. (Making the turbo drain line, was actually the hardest part of the whole ordeal)

The other issue I ran into was the port for the oil temp sensor. The adapters it came with didn't fit the AEM sensor. So I had to order the correct one.
And I ended up just running it from my mishimoto oil sandwich plate anyways in the end.
All and all it holds like an extra quart and a half. And although I dont have before numbers I ended up heat shielding the bottom of the pan anyways as the downpipe is really close to it. And the flex section is located right smack in the middle of the pan which means I can't DEI wrap that section so this was my best option.

Picts are in my profile. I have a standard built 6 bolt motor (eagle/wiseco) with no clearance issues.

I just installed a used one last month. I have no idea when it was manufactured. I don't have any issues with it clearance wise. I did screw up the initial install put a stud into my timing belt so be smarter than me.

What did you use for heat-shielding material?

i use this stuff on the oil pan as well as on the DS tunnel (where the exhaust routes) to keep the heat of the downpipe/exhaust and it does really well. I also painted my dp with Rustoleum BBQ black and then wrapped the full length of the dp with DEI titanium exhaust wrap to keep the heat in the exhaust too.

Much thanks guys. I'll be picking up some gold tape from them to wrap the water pipe that passes behind the exhaust manifold as well as some other bits, so I will grab roll of this as well.

This is what I used on the water pipe, the Clarendon Aerolite Plus. You can see how their products compare to their "competitors" gold tape which is DEI. (read the note at the very bottom of the page about the gold tape)

I contacted them directly, they sell it in linear feet (not by the roll) and I believe it was $25/lft and it's 20" wide so you get a 20" x 12" sheet which is plenty to do the water pipe.
