Ok so my Dad has a 1993 Eagle Talon TSI FWD that he has owned since new, it has now sat for almost 10 years with no attention. Prior to him stopping driving it when he was driving the car would completely die while on the road. I mean no brakes, power steering, no lights on the dash, nothing. He would pull it over to the side of the road, shake the car a little and it would start back up. A few weeks ago I put a new battery in it, and it started right up, no hesitation or anything. Next day car cranks once but doesn't start. I know that there is going to be a large number of problems since it has sat for so long, but I would at least like to get it running to bring it to a shop for a proper inspection. Currently when I put the key in I get nothing, no lights on the dash or a click in the engine.
So my two main questions, what would cause the car to die with absolutely no power, then start back up. And what would cause this draw of power on my battery? Also are the two related.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
