So I got my next question on my AWD swap journey. I discovered today that my half shaft is a 97-99 style and doesn't line up with the 95-96 A/C bracket I have. So, I have a WTB post up for the correct A/C bracket. I noticed in the FSM that there is a spacer, like a thick washer, between the block and the half shaft. I believe it's part MB297732. Extreme PSI has them for sale, so I've located it, my question is do you need 1 or 2? Is there one on the AC bracket as well? Or does it bolt directly onto the AC bracket?

Thanks, I want to get this stuff ordered and on it's way.

Alternatively you could get the half-shaft bracket for a 95-96. Might open up options, and would be easier to deal with I'd think than pulling the a/c bracket. Can't answer the spacer question as I simply can't remember.

It should be one spacer. You should get the proper bracket or the proper halfshaft mounting bracket. The shaft is the same, the mounting portion is what is different.

You have the right idea. They have to match year for year but for the spacers I have always used 3 old head bolt washers if you have any laying around.

I was able to source a bracket and I ordered a spacer and bolt from ExtremePSI. As soon as this stuff comes I should be able to move forward again.

I do have some old head bolts laying around. That's a great idea.

You have the correct part number, here's the spacer itself. Only 1 is needed. It goes at the far right bolt hole on the AC bracket, if you're looking at it. Also, if you're really stuck and can't find neither bracket or halfshaft at all, it's possible to weld in a solid piece of steel, maybe 1" diameter, drill it out, tap it, then weld it onto the bracket. That would act as your required proper hole to mount your existing halfshaft bracket onto. I've been meaning to do this for quite a while since I'm currently only using 1 of the 2 bolts securing the halfshaft, which lets it have more play and doesn't transfer the loads as much to the block (I believe this can lead to increased axle oil seal wear).
