I’m ready to make the switch to E85. Just waiting on ss filter element. I was making sure the AEM rail was going to fit as the -6an line was tight on the drivers side against the tbelt cover. Do they make a tighter/shorter -6an 90* fitting? Seems to be about 1/4 in too wide and the end on the rail just spins...idk if that’s normal as I bought it used from a fellow member.

Thanks
Tony

Now I see why you posted your other thead. I ran into the exact same issues you’re having. I think I’m going to switch to an Aeromotive fuel rail in the future (I have some opinions on the AEM...).
But for now, I used that part I put in your other thread. I’ll put it here too so you don’t have to go back.

If you want pictures of my fuel rail setup? I can get em.

What’s your opinion on the AEM rail?

Yeah a pic would be great. No rush.

Thanks Bleakley!

Messaged you. Nothing terrible about it. I just think it’s a little limited as far as high flow when compared to the other options available.
I got pics, but they’re not very good. And they are nothing special. Neither is the car. Been very neglected cause cash has been such an issue past couple years (schooling, apprenticeship, etc.).

Hoses you guys see running across top are for MVS wastegate cooling (fed from throttle body).

Thanks bleakley!! How did you remove the fitting that’s on the rail?

Id like to hear some more regarding power levels, and where this rail was your bottle neck....^^^

To remove the fitting just pull the 2 slot head pins and slide the fitting out. Odd setup for sure. The way it rotates is really awkward as you try to tighten the fitting without marring everything up......but can be done if your patient and make good choices.

I dont think the rail is worth the effort but it was brand new in box and close to free so I gave it a go.

If you’re talking about the fittings on the AEM? There are two 4-40 Round / Phillips head bolts / screws on each end. Once you remove the bolts, there are two rods on each end that hold those fittings from blowing out. Once you get those rods out you’ll be able to remove the fittings

Never said it was a bottleneck to ME. Just saying it could limit flow when people REALLY start getting up there. I’d rather have the Aeromotive or Magnus, or whatever brand.
I actually like the AEM fuel rail (love it). And they’re the only one that I know of that incorporates a 1/8” NPT port for fuel pressure. For anyone in or around -6AN I think it might be the best.
Someone going -8AN or -10AN, not so much in my opinion.
At some point I’d like to go Aeromotive rail with -8AN on both sides.

What are you say???
They always leak because of those stupid fittings. I have one on my car and I have to mess with it every time I take it off and put it back on. I’ll just weld some fittings on it next time.

As far as bottleneck, I’ve seen cars with stock rails run 9’s.

I see. It’s only $10 from amazon and if it leaks, I’m returning it.

For me, I’m only upgrading it for E85.

When I bought mine I was surprised it was just those two o-rings. I was like - “Wow, this would suck if those things leak.”
It hasn’t yet. So thank god. But I can only imagine the problems some people have had that weren’t as lucky... especially if it’s old or someone f***ed up the orings on one side.

And stock rail good to 9’s? Wow. Noted...
(Though I can only imagine the hammering that thing saw, for real.. bet that sh*t looked AWESOME if you tapped it for fuel psi and put it on a graph.)

The stock rail has a larger inner diameter than a -8an fitting.

Rail is on with about 1/2 inch of clearance from the tbelt cover. Just waiting on fittings for bottom of fuelab filter fitting to hard line.
