Doing this swap seems overwhelmingly easy but I just want to make sure I understand and get everything I need. Miller Import Parts has a set of GSX front calipers for about $100, Extreme PSI with a SS line kit for front and rear around $80, and a set of front rotors and pads from PowerStop brakes for around $130. Instead of spending about $80 just for some front pads I was looking for an upgrade as my front left caliper has already locked up and been replaced with a rebuilt one that is starting to creak again and don't quite have the budget Brembos. But $300 sounds too good to pass up.. If I get the calipers with rotors and pads with some fab to the dust shield that should be all I need, the SS lines would be an easy plus to add on, correct? Also, since I'll have to calipers in hand before swapping them over is it worth trying to rebuild them? I've never done it but am mechanically inclined and looks fairly easy from the bit of videos I've seen.

If your on a budget I say slap em on and try em. The ss lines are good but not needed. Swap is pretty bolt on.
Yeah the SS lines are just an easy thing to do so might as well. I just have that creeping suspicion when things seem that easy, ya know.. LOL. Think it's worth trying to rebuild them before installing? Not trying to have a squeaky caliper a year or two down the road and the kits look pretty inexpensive.

Brembos are on my list I just can't swing them right now and there's other places that need the cash at the moment.

Check the Complete kits. This is minus the SS lines though.
The Evolution and Street Warrior kits are nice, I have the SW setup for my 92 and it is sweet. I think both kits come with Carbon/Ceramic pad sets too.
This is what I just got, along with the drilled/slotted rotors and pads.

I would suggest buying remanned/new calipers from rockauto instead. I would also recommend doing the outlander brake upgrade at the same time if it’s in your budget.
That is a great idea and PowerStop offers them already rebuilt and powdercoated red at only $140 a set. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=6751368&cc=1205873&jsn=421

I did look into the outlander upgrade but I would also need the brackets it looks like. At this time I do need to get the car going sooner then later and if the GSX upgrade is just bolt on I may go for that to save time. Plus Brembos are still on my list for the future so this won't be for more then a few years hopefully.

Edit: @1990TSIAWDTALON https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=7283900&cc=1205873&jsn=15 I can't believe I missed this, thanks! This looks like the best deal for me.

I did the upgrade to Outlander caliper brackets a few years ago and you will be hard pressed to find any in stock. Some vendors are selling GSX brackets mistakenly labeled as Outlander so be careful of that. I had to go through several vendors and returns just to get the correct brackets.

The only difference between the GSX & the Outlander calipers is the bracket, both use the same caliper & guide pins. Rockauto has Outlander fromt calipers with the bracket (left & right) for $38.99 plus $80.00 core ($118.99 total each). You'd only need to buy Outlander rotors to do this swap. https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=2039850&cc=1431675&jsn=1846
Not bad! Perhaps easier then I thought. Though with the calipers being about 120 each before the core then still having to buy the rotors and pads I think I'd end up paying a bit more. For my current set up and driving style I think I'll be happy with the GSX calipers until I can get my Brembo setup for all 4s and put some more work under the hood. :hellyeah:

Rebuild kit is 10$

Got the swap dont this past Sunday with typical hang ups. Took about 4-5 hours with no air or power tools. The back passenger bleeder broke off and the back drive side bleeder was clogged. One of the bolts the caliper moves on from the front driver side was hanging up and ate away my inner pad and rotor while the front passenger side was wearing normally but fairly low hence the squeaking. Everything bolted right up with no problem at all and the difference is huge on braking power, the whole front of the car dips now when I brake hard enough. Its awesome! Glad it's done and very happy with the results.

Pic 2 is the inside of the front driver rotor, pic 3 are the pads, and pic 4 is the front passenger caliper/pads. Pics 1, 5, and 6 are the finished results.

Is that the same PowerStop kit that I bought? It looks real good on your white car!!! :thumb:
Glad the braking is significantly better!

It is, I'm very happy with it! Great recommendation. And thank you! I'm hoping to pick up some evo8 wheels soon because I need tires, think they would look sick black with those red calipers behind them..

I have to agree with that. Those kits wont last long....
Looks nice man!:thumb:

Hey I know this thread is a few years old but I'm wondering if the "FWD" dust shield will work with the AWD front rotors since they are bigger. I guess I could take it off but I would rather not. I can see you have a dust shield in the pictures, is that the FWD dust shield or from an AWD car?
