So I had some issues with smoking after idling for a bit so I did a comp test and had 90 across the board dry and wet so I decided to yank the head. I found some leaky valves and the composite headgasket was a mess, which was what I thought. I figured while I was here I would fresh up the bottom end, cylinder walls looked ok, nothing a hone wouldn't fix. I pulled the TC and dropped the oil pan, pulled the pistons and rods to check everything then the crank girdle. FML! I have had some of the signs, clutch issues on hard left turns, rpm drop when clutch is engaged etc but always chalked it up to a TOB or hydraulic issue but became more convinced it was CW as time went by. I bought the car last year and have only put on 800 - 1k miles so the previous maintenance and such is a mystery. This is my 5th dsm but first bout with CW. ☹ Guess I'm starting a 6 bolt build. Just wanted to share my story. Pics attached.....

Holy crap.
I think that may be one of the few sightings of crankrun ever documented in the wild.

Just out of curiosity I wonder what the oil filter looks like inside

Just curious, has the bottom-end ever been apart?
I assume this is your 99 split thrust 7-bolt, correct?
Not by me, not sure what the previous owner had done, its stock bore and pistons which weren't too bad but 177k miles I bet somebody got in it before and just did a stock overhaul. It almost looks like there was a saddle bearing used buts hard to tell because of how hard that crank tore up that thrust groove.

Is the 1st pic of your girdle?
There should only be 1 main bearing on the girdle, 1 main bearing on the block and 2 thrust washer half moons on both sides of the block center bearing and no thrust washers on the girdle, only a main bearing.
