If you arent speed density, yes. Very much it would affect it badly and wouldnt run at all.

As to thr 2g maf, most run an adapter to a more standard size I have found. If its 1g thats a different story (which it is not in this case)

Only price :)
eep. $180 msrp on the oe fitment 2g filter from k&n (pn: 57-5504-1) I hope you can find it cheaper that that, otherwise the 4" round adapter makes more sense.
For instance, Jegs has the adapter (865-81403) for 12 bucks and then you have your choice of filters, k&n or not. A standard 4" by whatever length k&n will be cheaper than a purpose built piece and provide equal performance, if not better. Thats why I mentioned adapter over oe style.
Unless youre CARB then you have less leeway potentially.

Thanks for all the replies, bought one now so hopefully, it will fit.
On another note, any popular websites that sell 2g parts? Lowering springs, fog lights, etc

Ah a drop-in plate filter. Is that what he needs? No profile so we can assume either way. My results listed the oval cone.
For $57 I would still sooner go 4" adapter and 8" or longer cylindrical.

What makes you think that is true? Have you ever ran the car with the MAF disconnected? I HAVE... and the car DOES run without it. It does not run well, but regardless, your statement is false.

Point taken. I did have "well at all" in my first typing but going back and fixing cell typos and still missing one, I pulled well out given that I didnt think it would stay running for long, if it managed to start, so I elected to average the entire experience and regard "run" as running well. I was too strict in my phrasing.

Not a great alternative to obtaining a filter but still possible I suppose then. Not sure why removing the waf was related to obtaining a filter but possibly a different line of questioning altogether. I take your correction, its a good call if true. I have never done it, my 1g and 2g MAF sensors remained plugged in.

Thats right. And heres why:

Sweet, I stand absolutely corrected. I pride myself in providing correct information, as I am sure we all do and sometimes we all get something wrong -- good thing, in this case, it is trivial -- and my not-quite-suredness and removal of a word on a post edit definitely wasn't the way to go. Should have looked it up or, in the least, mentioned it is not recommended or left it at "not run well", especially given apparent lack of idle air control OMG
Thanks guys, we both learned something. Me an extra bit: sometimes it is best not to post while being aggravated by the current state of a multi-million dollar security architecture.

I wasn't trying to correct you to be a dick! I have been misled by incomplete or incorrect information before, so I take these opportunities to correct certain tidbits for posterity. Even if it was mostly off topic. I have posted incorrect information before and you are correct, we all get something wrong on occasion and this was as trivial as it gets. :D

The adapter and a 3 inch,(cant remember how long tho) k and n is a great way to go. Even tho you have to stuff that filter in there pretty right. Could just be a 1g with 2g maf thing tho.
I'm glad you got the drop in filter, no need to mod anything to make it fit. Love drop in k &n's.

I bought the Apexi filter kit. Years ago when I had 240sx the SR guys swore it helps with flow for MAF. Anyway, it was kinda spendy and I had to wait, but it’s a piece not many people have and replacement filters are cheap. LOVE it. Would recommend. 4/5. Only reason I don’t give it a 5 is price and the cover piece I couldn’t get to work and I wasn’t modifying it.

Been trying to find an adapter to the filter (4"), though I can't seem to find it anywhere, except one site that wanted 84 bucks for shipping alone...
Any ideas?
