Hello again everyone. :toobad:

I'm making this thread hoping to save myself some work and time.

So every since I bought the car there was never anything to hold my battery in place. After looking at a few other DSM's in the area (only 2 because they're super rare down here) it appears that the car was designed to have the battery flop all around. Or maybe everyone removes them for some reason. I see some bolts under the battery but those seem to be holding the plate in place and not for a bracket. Over the past few months my battery cables have been pulling out of place while driving. Next time I try to start the car, it won't. I tighten them up more and more but they still pull out due to the battery swaying side to side. I'm also concerned that one day if I need to brake really hard it would smack my ECU. I know it's not that the battery is too small because I'm using the Maxx brand with 700 CCA ( < bulky box there).

So I was really just wondering if Mitsubishi made these cars with some sort of bracket to hold the battery in place. Or if anybody sells any type of reinforcement to keep it from flying around. I can just weld a metal plate in front of my ECU to prevent movement but I really don't feel like it because that just seems too un-necessary.

And if someone could tell me where to purchase this, it would be very greatly appreciated. :thumb:

The stock battery tie down must have been lost at some point for your car. Let me try and find a picture of what it should look like.

I may even have an extra if you need one.

I made one a long time ago. You can buy a generic battery hold-down hook/bolt at the parts store for a dollar or two, then I just drilled two holes in a piece of aluminum flat stock, and secured it with washers and wingnuts (like the stock one in silvreclips' photo) for easy removal. I believe I used some kind of a rubber or neoprene washer, in addition to metal washers, to dampen vibrations a little and help keep the wingnuts from backing out. You can probably do this $5-6 and 15 minutes, or maybe you can find an OEM one for less at your local junkyard.

There you go. That ought to set you in the right direction. I'm not sure if it'll work as-is because one side of the stock hold-down is bolted to the shock tower, but I bet you can make it work.
