What's up everyone. I'm from findlay, Ohio

I've owned a handful of dsms over the years and looking to start a rwd swap project using the 4g63 platform. Something light and 4 doors to make a fun street car out of. Looking to make 6-700whp. I was looking into 1st gen crvs and rav4s

Currently have a 2012 Camaro that I just "finished," still working out the bugs. Iron 6.0, th400, Ford 9 inch, big tire car. Single 94 mm on e85. Makes just over 1000whp.

Also have a a big tire s10 that I'm in the process of finishing. That's powered by a gen1 sbc/th350, 12 bolt rear.

And lastly a 1972 chevelle that's just a driver

Welcome! Sounds like you know what you're doing, I look forward to the project, and I second the sweet rides!
It'll be interesting to see a rwd 4 door 4g setup, don't see many ppl going for the sedan!

Are you going to use bill hincher or buschur for a trans adapter, or make your own?

Thanks guys and I plan to use one of those two adapters. I really want to use a 4l80e trans behind it for the overdrive and pick up a cheap Ford 8.8 or 9 inch out of an explorer for a rear end.

I definitely want 4 doors and something I'm not afraid to drive across the country. I really want to hurt people's feelings so a wrx/sti is high up on the swap list as well. I'm open to other ideas as well. The lighter the better hence the first 2 listed, one being 2800lbs

I could definitely get behind that camry! I'm a big fan of the g body malibu wagons but not sure on weight of one! Not having the torque I'm used to leads me to keeping it light!

A buddy has a good condition 6 bolt shortblock for 150 but thinking itd be cheaper to just get a complete motor and salvage what I can. Im open to the revised 7 bolt motor as well...Thoughts?

Either one or any can be built just fine, if the 6 bolt isn't complete you'll have to hunt down a bunch of stuff which is tedious and adds up. I'd vote for finding a complete engine for sale so you have all the little parts you might need, 6 bolt or 7 bolt (split thrust or not) isn't as big of an issue if it's built correctly anymore. If you want to retain piston squirts then 6 bolts are good from the start, but a 7 bolt could be machined to accept the older style and you can plug the new ones, but most aftermarket rods will have a squirt port or two in them as well. The 7 bolt head is where it's at though, or you could do an Evo/Kia head for new style and best flow, plus Evo 9s have MIVEC if you want variable valve timing.

A 3rd gen block (revised split thrust) with a Kia/Evo head is going to be my RWD setup later on.

The Camry I can't remember or find the curb weight of, but after working on it, I'd estimate it's maybe 2400-2500#, if that. Honestly with the power level you're looking at and a good auto, I wouldnt worry about the weight. You can get a good converter and brake boost if needed and it'll be a rocket ship even close to the 3k# mark as long as it'll hook up.
I think the g-bodys will be a bit heavier, but it'd be sick to do one with a wicked 4g, and it'd take far less fab work.
Could also do a bimmer for a 4 door that's light but still has rwd layout, and isn't too bad on weight, not to mention most of the handling parts from the sport cars will still work. 86-87 325i 4 door would be sweet.

Awesome, good info. Thank you. This is a project I'm looking to start this winter after I finish my s10. It doesn't need much. Rear tires, front coilovers, and driveshaft. Then source a shell to start on. My Camaro I'm using ms3 for engine management so I'd like to use that on the 4g63 as well. I'll try to remain active until I have something set in stone for the project
