Accident, Maryland
Background on the car: rebuilt bottom end, stock head. Car cranks over, I've test spark on all cylinders and have a strong spark. I'm getting fuel to the rail (not sure of pressure) and timing belt was checked by myself and another local dsmer. Set engine to tdc and re installed the C.A.S. with the notches lined up. Sprayed gas into the throttle body and car acts like it wants to start until the gas is no longer there. I'm getting 12.8 volts at the injector harness (charger hooked to battery) drained gas tank and put 7 gallons of fresh 93 in. Pulled CAS and spun it by hand I THINK I can hear the injectors clicking I'm not entirely sure. I'm not sure if the injectors are firing and I'm not sure if I have good pressure. Any ideas? Tips? Advice? Would be GREATLY appreciated.

Definitely a good point! See if it runs first then work out the kinks from there! When you say tey 1-3-4-2 is this what you're referring to? Just wanna make sure I have it right before I go.and i will post results tonight when i get home. It's not the prettiest diagram but just to make sure.

Yes, as a test.
Here is another thread to read:

In your picture, you are changing the cylinder #'s, don't do that, they never change. Just change the order on the coils.
As you see 1 coil fires 1 & 4, the other fires 2 & 3.

I am pretty sure mine fires 4-1-2-3, tho they have both been down for a few months or more so I would have to go look and I am at work right now.....shhhhhhh :shhh:

Thank you @Bud92gsx for the picture!
As it alternates back and forth between the 2 coils. I am probably wrong, but it won't hurt to try it.
Switch them at the coil packs, then switch them back when I am wrong!

Ok so I'm back with the results. Still a no start. Switched the plug wires at the coil packs to 1-3-4-2 still nothing. Switched them back and spun the CAS 180° and tried starting. Nothing. So I put the cas back where it was. Pulled the injectors and they all spray.
Kind of hard to do with just one person and a compressor that doesnt work. Anymore ideas? Feedback? Insight? Thanks

Well there are only 3 things required to make it run as long as all timing, both static and ignition, are spot on.
Glad you changed it back. It was just a test.
I'm scratching my ole bald head, trying to be helpful and not harmful....:hmm:

Possibly ecu?... is there any other sensors that could cause the car not to start? Oil pressure switch? I know the ect can cause no starts. But I'm not sure about the others. I'm currently running speed density also.

Anyone? I was in the process if lining up the timing Mark's to check again but when it got to TDC my wrench slipped off and my hand got slit open by the oil filter housing. So I decided to stop for that day LOL. On the diagnosing a no start article it says if the injectors are not spraying it's likely either the ecu or wiring. And my check engine light does not go off with the key just "on"... I've read that could be a sign of a bad ecu?. It would be helpful to actually visually see if the injectors are actually spraying when they are connected to the harness without fuel spraying everywhere.

I was wondering the same thing. I've been looking at how to read the codes but most of the articles on how to read them are a little confusing. I have a digital volt meter I was going to try to use to see if there were any codes.

Even though the rings arent seated yet? Would it still be an accurate test? If so I'll give it a try, when I go over to check the mpi relay and see if i can get the injectors to spray while hooked up to the rail with bottles around them. If they dont spray i guess I'll be pulling the mpi relay and testing it along with the ecu if the relay checks out okay.

100% verified the injectors are NOT spraying at all. None of them while hooked up to the rail and engine harness. When I try to start the car I also hear a loud rapid clicking. I cant tell if it's under the dash or in the engine bay. Mpi relay? Ecu? Something else? Any ideas guys? Thanks for looking! :)
