HI everyone! Alright so i just wanted a second opinion on these specs that i came up with so far. And everything seems to be okay so far. The motor is just a stock rebuild with .020 pistons, arp headstuds and a balance shaft delete. But heres what I've gotten done so far.
-Main journal oil clearance is .020mm
-End play is .06mm
-Rods will be next week hopefully.
-Piston rings
1st ring .32mm
2nd ring .28mm
Oil ring .26mm
-Oil pump drive gear .12mm
-Oil pump driven gear .08mm

I wil say im surprised how well the oil pump is with 21200miles on it as far as im aware of. :hellyeah:

2ng ring gap looks out of spec.

Thanks Dusty! Nice post up for the OP!!! :thumb:
I, too, agree that #2 ring is to tight. If you are going to run higher boost levels then both are too tight.
Depends on your useage and you say it is a stock rebuild so you just need to loosen the 2nd rings a bit.
We built a stock 6 bolt but plan on running higher boost levels so, on it, I widened the gap to .61mm and .72mm (.024" and .028"), as you don't want the rings to butt up from expansion at anytime.

....................... And ill be honest i drive it like its stolen. Haha

If its got a turbo and/or a manual transmission im all like:

Top ring is a bit loose now. It might have blow by with those specs but it sure as hell won't butt the rings! :)

Rods measured out to .038mm i see that the spec is .02-.05mm. So woohoo just ordered some new rings. This time i wont gap them at 3am. ROFL

I think your just a little misguided or confused about what you should be doing at that time of night.
. Between the hours of 1AM to 6AM, activities involving rods and gapping should be restricted to the gapping

I would double like that if I could!!! ROFL :thumb:

I def dont do intricate work after midnite. Left a oil drain plug out and an oil filter off a SBC....so 15 qts later, (the next morming), I said never again. :nono: :ohdamn::ohdamn:

Haha
Yeah Definetly learned my lesson on that one. I was watching jafro and was just going with the flow. Obviously not paying to much attention on that one. Well atleast now i know everything is in spec because i went back through to double check everything. So once the rings come in ill get put it all back together.

So with the rods being at .02mm and the crank at .02mm of oil clearance as well. Should i be worried if its on the tight end of things?
