Is the 6g72 worth building is basically my question. i hear they are unreliable if you add power and a pain to work on in the car thinking about going fir the 6 bolt swap wondering if anybody has experience with the 6g72 and has advice. I know they make kits for the swap too. Thanks for reading i appreciate any feed back

I build more 6g’s than anyone now. They are a great street engine and have a killer powerband at 600-700hp. Above that you need a billet crank and I’ve seen those break over 1100hp.

If you plan or racing, 4g all the way.

@familyMAN could also add some to this.

i havent heard alot of bad about 6g's as a street motor, but i do recall not liking working on my buddies since it was so crammed in the bay. id go for a 4g as well.

Vr-4 = Twin turbo, DOHC 3.0L V6, AWD.
Of course it will be tougher to work with.

It has double the turbo components

If your timing belt has issues,, you have 2 heads to f*** up, 2 heads to rebuild, 2 head gaskets.........etc

Doing (engine in) timing belt on a Dohc v6 is so much fun , almost as much fun as sticking a cactus in ur ass.

Intake mani (upper)!has to be removed to get to 3 of the spark plugs.

I could keep going but im sure you get the point.

My personal opinion is why get a 3000gt if your not gonna run the 6g.
I would get a GSX, which may not have a 6 speed tranny but its lighter, doesnt require a swap

If your car came with a 6g72 and you want 5-700hp, keep it and run with it. If your car came with a 4g63, easy answer, keep it. If you want more than 700hp, up to you, but you'll spend more on a 6g than a 4g. (like donnie said above) If you want to drag race your car and it came with a 6g72, toss it in the bin and swap in a 4g63.

But really, whatever floats your boat. Run with it and enjoy.

Unless you wanna do what familyman did and do a v8 turbo swap... cause that’s also sick

Okay thanks guys definetaly looking for a street/mountain driver car w the awd aws and glad to hear you can make alot of power out of it im sure there great stock but your always gonna wanna make improvements and i didn't Wana put my money and time in a motor that wouldn't have much support ya know

A ls swap would be sick but the ones i seen were 2wd and what's the point of that it be like a ws6.
